When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, "Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage." Matthew 2:1–2
The Magi were most likely from Persia, modern-day Iran. They were men who regularly engaged in a study of the stars. They were not Jewish but were most likely aware of the popular belief of the Jewish people that a king would be born who would save them.
These Magi were called by God to encounter the Savior of the World. Interestingly, God used something very familiar to them as an instrument of their calling: the stars. It was among their belief that when someone of great importance was born, this birth was accompanied by a new star. So when they saw this new, bright and brilliant star, they were filled with curiosity and hope. One of the most significant aspects of this story is that they responded. God called them through the use of a star, and they chose to follow this sign, embarking on a long and arduous journey.
God often uses those things most familiar to us that are part of our daily life to send forth His calling. Recall, for example, that many of the Apostles were fishermen, and Jesus used their occupation to call them, making them “fishers of men.” He especially used the miraculous catch of fish to clearly indicate to them that they had a new calling.
In our own lives, God is constantly calling us to seek Him out and worship Him. He will often use some of the most ordinary parts of our lives to send forth that calling. How is He calling you? In what way is He sending you a star to follow? Many times when God speaks, we ignore His voice. We must learn from these Magi and diligently respond when He calls. We must not hesitate and must seek to daily be attentive to the ways that God invites us to deeper trust, surrender and worship.
Reflect, today, upon God’s call in your life. Are you listening? Are you responding? Are you ready and willing to abandon all else in life so as to serve His holy will? Seek Him, wait on Him and respond. Doing so will be the best decision you ever make.
Lord, I love You and pray that I will be open to Your guiding hand in my life. May I always be attentive to the countless ways that You call to me each and every day. And may I always respond to You with all my heart. Jesus, I trust in You.

Rampant Sports Gambling Is a Stain on Our Country
America’s love of sports gambling will not be going away any time soon. Its devastating consequences have been well-cataloged—from apps that use morally dubious tactics to ensnare gambling addicts to the industry draining vast sums of money from the lower classes and the poor. Those who design sports betting apps have created algorithms of addiction that exploit existing sinful tendencies and also create new ones.
All of this combines to corrode the very citizen character that’s a prerequisite for republican government as well as drive a wedge between man and God. What nations formed in the cradle of Western civilization once relegated to seedy private establishments is now promoted during nearly every commercial break in every NFL game.
Like the transgender craze, the full effects of legalizing 24/7 online sports gambling in most states will likely only be widely acknowledged later on—and I just hope that what the Supreme Court unleashed in 2018 will not be irreversible.
But don’t tell that to The Economist, the neoliberal British journal founded by the Scottish banker James Wilson in 1843. In a recent piece titled “America’s gambling boom should be celebrated, not feared,” the journal revels in the explosion of gambling in the U.S. The editors see this not as an omen of a culture in decline but as a testament to unrestrained liberty. America is to be applauded, we are told, for rejecting its “puritanical past” in favor of expanding “people’s freedom to lead their lives as they choose.” Unmoored freedom—or what the American founders would call license—in this telling is a great good—perhaps even the summum bonum of human life. But in reality, it’s yet another sign that Western civilization is locked into a suicidal spiral of its own making.

The evil doctrines of Marxism have infiltrated many institutions in the United States, leading conservatives to frame cultural and political battles as a contest between individualism and collectivism. On the surface, this makes sense. Marxism, as the ideology of communism, promotes state-enforced equality where individual agency is subordinated to a top-down notion of the collective good.
Many past conservative thinkers recognized this as a false binary, however. They understood that individualism, if left unchecked, can foster conditions that pave the way for tyranny. Lower-order organic identities — such as family, faith, and community — have repeatedly proven to be the only effective forces against the imposition of top-down despotism. The true battle is not between individualism and collectivism but between ordered liberty and disordered tyranny.
In his classic work “Democracy in America,” Alexis de Tocqueville explored the rise of individualism during the democratic age following the American and French revolutions. De Tocqueville believed a democratic trajectory was inevitable for France and sought to understand how Americans had managed to curb its worst impulses.
He observed that individualism often led people to focus solely on their own lives and interests, leaving them indifferent to the well-being of their neighbors and their communities. This lack of civic engagement, he argued, made it easier for despots to establish tyrannical rule. A despot thrives on individual apathy and the absence of civic virtue. He wrote:
Despotism, suspicious by its very nature, views the separation of men as the best guarantee of its own permanent rule and usually does all it can to keep them in isolation. No defect of the human heart suits it better than egoism; a tyranny is relaxed enough to forgive his subjects for failing to love him, provided that they do not love one another. He does not ask them to help him to govern the state; it is enough that they have no intention of managing it themselves.

The corporate media was filled with wall to wall coverage of fights that broke out in Amsterdam this Thursday night, ignoring all the relevant content and concocting a story that presented events as an antisemitic pogrom. Western leaders lined up to condemn the alleged antisemitic attacks, which amount to a complete inversion of reality and tantamount to a hoax.
While the corporate news media would have you believe that innocent Israeli football (soccer) fans were subjected to unprovoked “antisemitic” attacks on the streets of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, the facts paint a rather different picture. Not only is there no evidence of antisemitism as a motivating factor behind the violent incidents that occurred, but the Israeli football fans were actually the first ones to attack and were motivated by anti-Arab racism.
It all started when Israel’s Maccabi Tel Aviv football team were set to play a Dutch team, Ajax. In order to support their sports team, thousands of diehard Israeli fan flew out to Amsterdam in order to watch the game. However, these Israelis were far from peaceful. While they headed to the stadium, as well as after the game was finished, they were filmed chanted “death to Arabs” and “there are no schools in Gaza because there are no children left”.
Before the beginning of the football match, which the Israeli team lost 5-0, the Tel Aviv Maccabi fans refused to honor a moment of silence for the victims of the catastrophic floods in Valencia, Spain, instead cheering and then allegedly setting off fireworks. After the game, the Israeli football hooligans took to the streets of central Amsterdam and faced off with the Dutch police. Israelis attacked Dutch people and Dutch-Arabs, as eyewitnesses testified that the hooligans were looking for a fight.

Chikli spoke about the Diaspora Ministry's launch of a new tool two months ago, which aims to combat antisemitism.
The AI-based system allows the ministry to monitor every social network and provide key details that prevent terror attacks against Jewish communities, as well as give indications of the level of antisemitism in various countries.
Chikli said the system also helps the ministry understand who the "engines of antisemitism" are, be they politicians or influencers or organizations.
The ministry's tool enables them to understand who is spreading antisemitism, Chikli added, which is the first step to combating it.
