It’s always worth doing a larger sample in a place that gets all the light variation in a room so you can see what the color looks like in various lighting.

@npub1yks…rgk5 you might ask him how long it took him to create the original art and then base it on an hourly rate. Ultimately the art is worth whatever the two of you think it is, and it sounds like you two are just trying to do something reasonable.
A couple of maybe unhelpful data points from my life. I paid $120 for an artist to create a tattoo stencil for me that took him about an hour. I also paid $100 for a watercolor piece a friend of mine did that also took her about an hour.

@npub1sfl…gczt No judgement here. I literally solder micro-controllers as a hobby, but if I need my primary laptop battery replaced, you can 100% bet I will be having someone else do it. Keeping track of how to take the damn case apart is a high skill job, and I will always pay someone for that expertise.

And you need to be in your best shape when you get out of the aquarium to outrun security and the police. Especially when you have no shoes on.

@npub1sfl…gczt ask for a glass of water (if not offered), and sip it when you need to gather your thoughts. Don't gather thoughts too much though. There is nothing worse than having to pee in the middle of an interview. Tip 1a is that if the interview runs more than 2 hours, ask at the beginning for a bio break at some point.
