Do I know anyone working at Apple? I would really like to talk to someone from the iMessage or iCloud Team.
It looks like some of the massive traffic we see from facebookexternalhit is actually them with a strange user agent containing this:
"facebookexternalhit/1.1 Facebot Twitterbot/1.0"
And I find other reports of Apple using this user agent for link preview in iMessage or stuff in iCloud.

Scrapers and Bots are the new spammers of the internet, consuming massiv resources that everyone has to pay for and creating stability problems for nothing. Often to throw it into some shitty AI consuming more resources. FUCK YOU! This should be a crime!
What we could save on resources if we just turn of all this shit :(

The amount of FediFetcher instances scraping chaos.social is alarming. They all come from different Azure IPs because it's the recommended way to run it. Github reports: 1.361 deployments. We also see massive scraping from the TOR Network and scraping of RSS Feeds from SerendeputyBot. That sucks! #mastoadmin

Weil mir das jetzt schon sooo oft auf den Keks ging. Wenn eure Demo oder Gruppe nur auf Facebook, in irgendwelchen WhatsApp Gruppen oder Insta kommuniziert ist das alles andere als inklusiv. Ist mir zum Beispiel schon bei Demos gegen Rechts, Klima Demos, Queeren Events, CSDs und vielen anderen ähnlichen Veranstaltungen aufgefallen. Das ist einfach nur schade. Schnell selbst ne schlechte Website klicken wäre so viel besser damit Leute ohne erstere wenigstens wissen das es stattfindet.

Da ich die letzten Tage wieder vermehrt Kommentare wie: "Ich weiß nicht was ich wählen soll, eigentlich will ich gar nicht" lese gibt es von mir jetzt einen Wahltipp.
Wählt einfach die Grünen. Nein sie sind nicht perfekt, das ist keine Partei. Sie haben aber den Vorteil das sie definitiv genug Stimmen haben werden um in Parlamente, Kreistage und Gemeinderäte zu kommen. Sie sind progressiver als alle anderen Großen und am Ende sorgt ihr im Zweifel dafür das sie mehr Macht bei Kompromissen haben.

The problem with your argumentation is that nothing else is really possible. If the display name doesn't work for you and the handle is just a technical name nothing is usable for you so the only answer could be "ask".
I would use the handle so that the original author knows I like their content. Additionally or depending on the content I link to the original source where the author is visible. Maybe this is a third solution.
