@nprofile…e4k0 Yes. So in Sublime Text you can collapse any indented block, so that's pretty good too. They don't stay collapsed though on subsequent openings so that sucks. Notepad++ is pretty good.

Got a fair bit done. Mainly cleanup and polish switching from mouse/kdb and controller on the fly. Still a lot to do but I wanna knock this out and get to design. Even though these will be small games I aim for a high quality experience.

@nprofile…fmuw It's surprising how fast you just fall out of development mode, knowing where files are, or what project folders are, etc. Of course it's not a big deal if you work every day ;) I'm working on that. No way to ship without consistent effort. My problem is I will go hard for 12h/day for a while then idle for 2 months. No good.

I firmly believe any #indiedev needs to take control of their own destiny and put the effort into a newsletter and collecting emails of potential customers. You are far better off having a direct line of communication to your user, than relying on social media to reach them. #gamedev #indiegamedev

Tyson vs Paul fight is Friday 11/15 at 7pm! There's a short 3 episode series on Netflix about the fight. It's a good watch.
Rooting for Tyson all the way. I figure he has 3 round to get it done or else maybe age starts to factor in. But Tyson is an absolute beast. That said Paul is no joke and either can KO the other with a single hit.

@npub1wky…3vnd I don't even think ppl back then thought it was bad or moonlogic. Everything was evolving rapidly and everyone was learning how to even design. First few Infocom games were terribly unfair and moonlogic-y. They got better over time. If you made something hard you just considered it value as games cost a lot of money and were meant to be many hours long!

I suspect the game design rules will be very basic but that's ok considering the time and a lot of these ppl weren't real designer but just coders/authors cashing in on a current craze.

I love collecting old books on making old adventure games. This one from 1983 by Tim Hartnell is in perfect condition. Fun to read through the BASIC listings and setup of the games.

@npub18du…tnc7 Yeah you can't count on boosting. Same as X. A "like" is free. A boost to some ppl seems to carry some responsibility with it vs just boosting a cool thing. All these places should remove likes and just have boosts/retweets as they are all that matter.

@npub1kfh…3qju It's a learning experience. I suppose hashtags are the way to get seen here and Bluesky, but on Bluesky you are normally constrained by 300 chars vs 500. i sort of suspect both places die again pretty soon. Will see. And I'm always happy to answer questions!

@npub1kfh…3qju I'll probably stick to solo dev efforts. i don't really want to build a team again or work on large projects. This limits options but I'm largely ok with that. And it's a challenge. Never really wanted to do anything with other people's ip. Too many strings attached and if you make an amazing game most of the money goes to other people. I'm too much of a maverick I think.

@npub1kfh…3qju I want to try a bunch of adventure games (point and click most likely). I never think a lot about innovations and just make what feels right at the time. Normally that comes from small things I wish a genre had. Like on Duke 3D we added lots of features Doom didn't have.

I use Buffer to cross-post from X to Mastodon and Bluesky. I'm repeatedly annoyed that I run into Bluesky character limits on posts and have to alter them. Bluesky needs to raise the default limits.

Started playing Diablo IV last night. Got the base game, expansion and a battle pass. There are so many systems, builds, and mechanics to this game it's overwhelming. Wow. Waking up and heading to PC I was getting reboots, BSOD or frozen screen (trying to wake up monitor). Turning OFF any monitor sleep 6 days ago and surprise no issues since? Weird? Normal? I use no power sleep/hibernation, only was turning monitor off after 30m. #gamedev

Been doing a drawing challenge called Inktober. One drawing a day, based on a prompt, for every day in October.
