A pipe broke at one of the other cottages in my complex and because the landlord has never bothered it install individual valves for our units, their maintenance people have water shut off for the entire place today. Because the landlord hires only the most incompetent people, the water has been off for many hours, and they are just standing around over there

I've discovered another treachery of ebike wiring. Wire color means nothing and can't be trusted.
If you have a pair of wires, one carrying 40 volts and the other the ground, red can be the ground and black can be the 40 volts.
If you have a set of mating connectors, the wire that is red on one plug can be black on the other and vice versa. So, if you plug them together, red becomes black and black becomes red after passing through the mated connectors

I was talking with a friend about how to keep a dwelling air conditioned overnight using solar power but no storage batteries.
Making a lot of assumptions about efficiencies, it looks like i could keep my 150 square foot bedroom cooled 20 degrees below ambient temperature for eight hours using 160 pounds of ice that was frozen with solar energy during the day.
If I owned my own house, I would be very willing to try this as an experiment

A couple of hours ago I spotted a ladybug larva far from any plants or prey, so I picked it up and carried it to my garden and placed it on one of my onions that had a bunch of aphids.
The larva ran around very confused for a moment before stumbling upon an aphid, at which time it greedily grabbed it and ate it.
I just went out there and looked and almost every aphid is gone from that onion now and the larva is resting.
