I remember being the call taker at police HQ (days before 911 centers) a bored Shift Sergeant use the word once to try and kill the boredom. Before they finished their sentence the emergency line was ringing to report what ended up being an ATV fatal accident the supervisor had to respond to. He was not happy when later I snarked, "Killed more than the boredom, didn't you?"
