The standard in web apps (slow, JS laden things that break browser functionality and eat all RAM) isn't great these days. And I can't avoid to wonder if that is the reasons that all the "AI is gonna write your website soon" people are not laughed out of any room.
In a space where quality has been neglected for a long time, "AI" solutions might almost look competitive.

"The simple truth is that the "Distributed Aggregation Protocol" Mozilla is using here is not private by design.
The way it works is that individual browsers report their behavior to a data aggregation server (operated by Mozilla), then that server reports the aggregated data to an advertiser's server. The "advertising network" only receives aggregated data with differential privacy, but the aggregation server still knows the behavior of individual browsers!
This is essentially a semantic trick Mozilla is trying to pull, by claiming the advertiser can't infer the behavior of individual browsers by re-defining part of the advertising network to not be the advertiser."

Saw a review of the Humane AI Pin thingy which is - surprising exactly nobody - basically a glorified proof of concept that doesn't really work and let's user's imagination of what it could be do the heavy lifting.
But what I keep wondering is the voice thing: The interface is basically only speaking to it. And even if that wasn't an issue for people with speech impediments, dialects, loud environments etc. is that really what's gonna be acceptable?
It might make sense if you work from home, alone in your office giving orders. But on a plane? A train? In the supermarket? Do we really think people will actually dictate their messages or tell some device to "add preparation h to the shopping list"?
I think the movie "Her" (and Start Trek TNG) has sold the public on voice as the perfect interface but it's really not for anything besides very rudimentary stuff.
(You don't need to tell me that _you_ use voice commands all the time.)

"this one speaker always does it and pulls it off" is the "this guy won the lottery so we should all play" argument. And do we think that people whose talk wasn't great because they rehearsed so much would have been better without rehearsal?
a) if that's their process for whatever reason, that's fine
b) it still communicates "you audience are not worth for me to prepare in advance, you get whatever I can come up with in the eleventh hour"
c) it still tells conference organizers: I do not appreciate your conference and the platform you have given me enough to do my work on time, you just get whatever I can slap together the night before.
I know there's also a juvenile "look how cool I am to not do my homework" shtick connected to this method but yeah, we're all not 12 anymore.

Since "AI" has become the thing to do, no cloud platform is neutral anymore (they never fully were, try hosting warez there, but for your own content they mostly were): They all "need" (as in want) to use your work as training data for their neural networks - especially work that's not "on the web" to have some kind of competitive advantage. But that means that your tools no longer let you do what you want because they need to make sure what you do is suitable as training data (because nobody wants a news report saying "BIGCORP's AI creates another racism").
This is a significant shift in how cloud services, that many have relied on for the last years, position themselves and can be reliably used. But the answer isn't "host your own" for most because it's hard and expensive. But maybe we'll find solutions outside of big tech that isn't total shit while we weather the "AI" storm that is increasingly fucking up all hat's good about the web.
