This happens incredibly frequently: a company posts (or updates) Terms of Use, the Internet freaks out about the teens suggesting the company is claiming an infinite license, the company clarifies the terms after days of bad press. The obvious solution is for the companies to fucking do the clarification AT THE TIME OF THE UPDATE so we can all skip the "freaking out" portion. Seriously, this is a known and predictable pattern, they have the power to nip it in the bud.

Lossless audio sounds better than the MP3s I made in 2000, when I encoded them at the lowest viable resolution to get as many as possible on my Creative Nomad Jukebox. It does not sound notably better than the high-resolution encoded MP3s I make today. That said, when making music or uploading it to streaming, I do it with lossless files because in those situations, more information is better.

To me the interesting thing here is the confirmation that Twitter never drove much traffic to news/other sites; people were content to just consume headlines/commentary there. That’s appalling information hygiene, especially since Twitter (and any social media site) is prone to social engineering. We need to aggressively champion the idea that one should seek out news/information at their original (and verifiably competent) sources and sites.
