Goddamn right!
My big ole titties have gotten bigger in recent years, and wrangling them into bras is a pain in the ass. I didn't used to get why people hated underwires so much, but the more volume they're supposed to be supporting the more of a pain they seem to become.
Sometimes I want an underwire to give me the silhouette I want when I'm getting a little fancy, but why would I ever do that to myself on a daily basis?

Really, that discussion should start much earlier.
Everyone should be made aware if what they are learning has been simplified in that way. They don't necessarily need to know all the specifics (that's what will be covered later), but they should understand how they are being taught and why they are being taught that way.

Yeah, it makes sense to teach people simplified concepts so they can start using and applying them as they work towards in-depth knowledge.
It does not make a lot of sense to tell students "that was all meaningless!" No, it wasn't meaningless—it was simplified—and also that does sound like a very good way to discourage students and make them feel they've been wasting their time and effort.

Yeah, I mean look at the college encampments and the amount of state violence that such relatively harmless resistance was met with (and mob violence allowed/encouraged by the agents of the state).
Not to mention that our police are better supplied and kitted out than most countries' actual militaries.

Pet peeves: when someone is writing/speaking "Shakespearean" English and uses "thee/thou" for a second-person plural.
I'm sorry that it doesn't sound ye-olde-timey to the ear to use the word "you," but it's how it is. 🤷‍♀️
(For that matter, by the time we get to Shakespeare, people were already frequently using "you" for second-person singular, though it was more formal than "thou", so...)

If you are interested in actual "self-defense," the best self defense you can do is not fighting back but paying attention & de-escalating or proactively leaving a situation if it seems like it might be unsafe. That's your best bet by far.
So anyone who "responsibly" carries a gun (if that's possible) ought to be the LAST person to escalate a situation. Anything less means that when you go out carrying a gun, you are *hoping* to kill someone.

In college I got a license & carried for a brief bit. Before that I did a lot of reading on guns for self-defense.
Something the folks who had *some* sense said was that if you carry a gun, you have a personal moral responsibility to avoid situations where you would need it. Guns have 1 purpose: to kill, so instead of becoming reckless because your gun can keep you "safe," it should only ever be the last possible resort.
But that way of thinking is no fun, I guess.

I interned at a nonprofit alongside a young woman who volunteered her free time to help out with stuff.
She and her family had NO money, literally struggling from week to week. But if she ever had snacks around or anything like that, she'd *always* be like "oh, would you like some of my chips?" and so on. It wasn't self-conscious—she just shared stuff. It was how she operated
Generosity has always appeared to me to be inversely correlated to wealth.

The fact that laws intended to harm trans people ALWAYS manage to carve out an exception for cosmetic surgery being performed on literal infants is so infuriating.

Yes, the inescapable problem of condemning the violence of the oppressed is that you have to ask whether they would be able to end the violence inflicted on them by any "proper" means. If the answer is "no," then we are saying they must submit to their own annihilation while we sadly shake our heads about how tragic their plight is.

I just remembered the time that a bunch of people were saying that men dating short women is a sign they're actually pedophiles.
As a short woman it was very jarring to hear that no "normal" man would want to date me, yet these people were out there stating it as obvious fact! It was so freaking bizarre and honestly hurt my feelings more than I might like to admit.
