The friend who shared her Covid with me last year (from which I'm not entirely certain I fully recovered) just got Covid again! She's reluctant to mask in enclosed spaces. I begged her to be smarter this time because every new variant selects another organ to mess with and screw up. We don't have much longitudinal data on repeat infections of this virus, except that masking helps cut down the spread of contagion. 😷

My dad died a slow, horrible death as a result of his Navy service duties and is buried in the military section of a suburban Catholic cemetery. I visit occasionally to clean the stones and bring flowers to my parents graves. For some reason, DJTs shoving his way into Arlington National Cemetery really insulted me and I trust the employee's version of the incident. The GOP are photo opportunist slime. I'm egregiously offended by this event and hope it tanks his campaign. 😠

Given the sewer slime in which they campaign, my guess is that they'll go for a wholly invented, false, paid for sexual harassment/predation charge against Walz, since he had all those teaching and coaching years amongst students. Post 2nd Shingrix shot update ~
Late last night I developed chills and this morning I had a little low grade fever. Took some Tylenol mid-day and kept hydrating. Feel pretty good now. Pharmacist was right about the side effects and they hit exactly on time. 💉

Got my second Shingrix shot this morning because I do not want shingles. Other than a muscle ache at the injection site, I'm all good so far. Pharmacist said the shot starts kicking in between 8 and 24 hours. Guess I'll see how goofy I'll feel tomorrow. 🐔 💉

In very local news this week ~ A shepherd type dog somehow got loose and was wandering through the neighborhood while its owners were trying to catch him and bring him home. Within minutes the KIds Army Rescue Team of the subdivision, some 40 kids between the ages of 7 and 12, were on their bikes, scooters, skateboards and on foot, chasing and tracking the renegade hound until he finally surrendered to go home. The kids were amazing. I have hope for the future. 🚲 🛴 🛹 🐕

Needed something light and frothy to snap me out of my sad fugue and watched "Mitchells vs. the Machines" on #Netflix. An animated work from Sony, it's goofy, laugh out loud funny, has a great voice cast and is very family friendly. Great mood elevator and I highly recommend. 🎦 #Movies

House guest update:
Got some art supplies so my trans-nephew could make a framed piece of art for my sister's birthday tomorrow.
Toured a local college briefly
Went out for sushi and miso soup.
Watched a movie.
Nephew is a bit jet lagged after taking a red-eye in from So. Cal.

Was texted this morning from my friend Liz's husband. He told me she lost her battle with cancer and passed on Monday. I'd known Liz since kindergarten and we were close, trusted friends all throughout our lives.She met her husband, a D.C lawyer, in the district where she was living and working.They had 3 sons and she had a beautiful life. This is 7th woman friend or relative taken by cancer within the last year.I wept hard and keened for over an hour. Fuck cancer goddammit. I am so sad. 💔

Hot water heater update:
Got 3 bids quickly, took the middle bid because the appliance was better and the customer service superb. Have a MacGiver type guy installing it as I type. Gonna hit my credit card for about $2,100. Ouch squared, but at least I'll have hot water. ⚡ 💳

Started my non-Irish dinner-but there are small red potatoes. But have been perusing the Blick site for art supplies. This is bad - it's retail therapy and I really can't afford it. In May, car insurance, in June, home insurance and property tax. After which you'll find my starving corpse in some goddamn corn or soybean field being pecked over by crows and hawks. So I guess no new art supplies for today, huh? 🙄

@npub1fpr…lyph Thank you. The school doesn’t make any money on their after school program but rather offers it as a courtesy to working parents. But I always get all my steps in, the kids seems to like and respect me, I shot a 3 pointer today and am getting really good with Legos.
