If I'm allowed to reply-guy on this topic, LibreOffice Impress has repeatedly crashed while I was preparing presentations mere hours or minutes before delivering said presentation. I'm not saying that Microsoft Office would have done a better job, but for the past ~8 years or so I've stayed away from LO as much as I can, and I now do all my slides in Google Slides, Canva, or recently Penpot.
Maybe instead of muting people we could ask, with an open heart, _why_ people think that way.

Nobody live tweets/toots Python conferences anymore, or do they? I guess the generation who grew with Twitter just got tired of it and didn't even look for replacements (and, well, I don't think younger folks are tiktoking conferences?). Or it's just that Python stopped being sexy?

You're not going to like this feedback but every single time I've used @npub1ykg…ch8k I've felt completely lost, I've found the UI ugly and too "hacker-ish", and it has lacked functionality.
If more people feel like I did (and I bet there's quite a few of us) then it means using alternative tools is all about tradeoffs. So we must understand that activists are more resource and time constrained than regular people and therefore aren't ready to make certain tradeoffs.

Looks barely useful for me 🤷 wondering if the claims about users sending links to gists or scripts over email and struggling with running said script have been validated through proper user research.
I doubt it, yet I could be wrong. Still, I think this will change very little, it feels like Python exceptionalism, and personally I don't think I'll ever use it.

What evidence would you need to be convinced? Honest question to weigh to what extent am I willing to drop everything else I'm doing and start shooting links, meticulously address your retorts, and spend an unbound amount of time arguing with strangers online, which is known to be among the most unproductive activities ever invented by humankind

"Wildly overblown" is overly kind to LLMs here. Several energy operators have already said that the current uptake in data centers and energy consumption is delaying their plans to go carbon neutral or directly that the grid cannot hold it.
"Not as bad as crypto" doesn't mean anything.
