Remember these things predate when flash memory was cheap, so they use RAM for storage. When the battery goes out, it loses everything and has to be resynced from zero!

I think… we’re in luck? It looks like it was stored “face-up”, so the acid poolled in the rear case and seems to have spared the logic board??
The rear case was so corroded the screw standoffs just fell off.

So far so good, 2.1 Gbit in iperf and about 250 MB/s reads over SMB (from 4 HDDs in raid5)
The question will be how well does this hold up/ how stable is it

I was messing around with my network today and spotted something funny - the Ubiquiti UniFi dashboard will actually by default classify Apple Internet Router/AURP in it’s traffic logs and even has a little custom icon for it!

Eldest daughter had her elementary school entrance ceremony today. As everyone was seated waiting for it to start, 5 minutes before it started a handful of phones rang out and seconds later there was an earthquake. We were only in a shindo 3 area so it was barely felt, but the timing was creepy.

I put the source code for AIRConfig on github for hyuks.
I had kept copies of the source code in earlier states in folders in case I needed to revert something (old school version control), so I was able recreate a "commit history" showing the evolution of the code as features were added.

Some of my favorite songs from 15(!!) years ago were written by people who could not sing but could write songs and then wrangle VOCALOID into singing them. These people did not have a voice before VOCALOID.
It worked well for Japanese but never worked for English.
But it looks like we finally have the tech to do it for English as well.
I’m looking forward to someone using this to make some great new music instead of just covers!
