What stats? Monero being used more for payments doesn’t necessarily mean that more places accept Monero as payment than Bitcoin. I’m just skeptical on its practicality if the world settles on Bitcoin as money, it wouldn’t seem relevant at scale to me.
At the same time, yes I am a fan of the coin itself and I love the maximum privacy. My point basically is what good is your money if nobody uses it and it’s hard to obtain? These are completely fair and reasonable questions.

I am fully aware of central bank and government corruption but with the US taking (what seems to me) to be a strong pro-Bitcoin stance with strong possibilities of pro-Bitcoin legislation in place, that last paragraph just doesn’t seem likely nor realistic to me. I don’t think it will be criminalized in the US at the rate things are going and we might even see pro self-custody laws.
I could obviously be wrong, and I have criticisms of Trump (most of which differ from liberals’ complaints) but if a Bitcoin strategic reserve is actually implemented plus all the pro-bitcoin members of Congress now, things could change in our favor. And trust me when I say, as someone who cannot stand the government and knows many of the rabbit holes of corruption, I am still saying that. If #Bitcoin becomes the backbone of the global financial system, how is that NOT a win? I understand the privacy and custodial concerns and I agree with him, but I’m also a realist. If we can use Bitcoin and have lightning for day-to-day transactions, anything, and I repeat, ANYTHING is better than this dog shit USD system.
I’m very libertarian, of course I love privacy, but be realistic. I think Monero is great, just like Bitcoin. But if Bitcoin becomes mainstream, saying it’s pointless is a little ridiculous. Maxis have to ask themselves what problems was #Bitcoin supposed to solve and is it solving them -
These two things need to be looked at honestly without any bias. I still cannot see any way around it. I have no problem admitting I’m happy when the price goes up because we LIVE in the fiat system. If it isn’t money and just viewed as an asset and isn’t solving privacy nor truly decentralized money, of course I will willingly benefit because everything in my life is still in USD. I’d be dumb to not take advantage of this.
But are we gonna solve privacy with Bitcoin? Will there be more regulation? KYC, custodial wallets, billionaires, institutions, pension funds, all of this bullshit has to be considered. If Bitcoin becomes the money replacement that we use in the same system with the same policies, with the same oppression every-day-citizens deal with now, what’s the difference? Seriously, what is the difference? At that point it’s just the same everything except it’s Bitcoin and not the USD. Yes, the supply is fixed, but do you think force won’t be used against you if you don’t follow the rules?
Maybe what I am saying is totally naive, but I’m not afraid to ask the question and raise some concerns. This is why #Monero makes sense fundamentally, but I don’t think it’ll become mainstream money for everyone, probably ever. And I do agree generally that society settles on one money, and as the world goes more and more digital, that likely will be Bitcoin. But again, what is actually being solved with all of this?

I think 1 because since the main focus is the chair, I prefer the lighter blue chair. In the second one, the wall is brighter so it draws my eye towards the wall when I think the chair is the focus but it’s strange since it’s dull and darker blue.

#Bitcoin has been hijacked thanks to KYC, custodial wallets, and rich investors.
Seems to be real simple now, in my opinion:
Bitcoin is digital gold, a store of value, a hedge against inflation. Absolutely yes - buy it, save in it, and hold it. The reality is we are still in the USD system and that will not change. So if you’re in for “number go up,” then just admit that. Nothing wrong with that if you’re just aware of it. We’re all in the same financial system, so I understand, especially because Bitcoin has already failed what it set out to do.
#Monero on the other hand, is digital cash. It seems to be the only money that actually held onto the values and mission that Bitcoin was supposed to hold to and solve. So get some Monero, and SPEND IT. That’s the purpose.
They both have utility. It’s annoying to see that Bitcoin maxis are so anti-Monero for no reason. Like stop and think for a second — why? I have not seen a single legitimate reason other than “BTC is worth more in USD” which misses the point entirely. Stop calling it a “shit-coin” simply because it isn’t Bitcoin. That isn’t how it works.
If Bitcoin was a threat and was succeeding in the mission it was supposed to be accomplishing, it wouldn’t be available to purchase on an exchange. Monero on the other hand, is getting delisted.
Before (if) you reply in disagreement, keep it civil. Way too many butthurt people recently for no reason.

Well said. I have long term plans to write about theology on here and blog-like Nostr apps. That plus keeping up with news on Bitcoin and engaging in various types of discourse has been really exciting. I cannot overstate how great #Nostr is. Again, I am VERY much a layman on the topic, but it seems to me that people that care about what #Monero is worth in USD might actually be retarded or they are purposely missing the point.
I have only seen Monero advocates on here state that the best thing to do is SPEND in Monero, and SAVE in #Bitcoin. I am researching more and learning more slowly each day and this concept fascinates me.
Stacking any crypto for “number go up” is inherently the incorrect way to think about it. Buying Bitcoin just for that purpose means you are still thinking only in USD with a Fiat mindset; which defeats the purpose of the creation of crypto in the first place.
If you hold to the position that Fiat is inherently worthless and constantly getting debased (which it is), it doesn’t make sense to me to care about Bitcoin’s price in USD (or any other crypto) UNLESS you specifically bought some just to cash out for Fiat in the future.
Monero seems to have everything needed for a private checking, and Bitcoin has everything needed for a (very) high-yield savings.

I’m 100% a layman on this topic, but this makes sense to me. Probably why I’ve seen people say 1BTC = 1BTC and same could be said 1XMR = 1XMR if it’s just viewed as money.
For the other side of the argument, it’s very difficult for me to wrap my head around how someone could say something is more valuable just because the fiat (USD) price of it is more. The entire point is that the fiat system is literally shit. Plus even though the price of Bitcoin could be going up in USD, while that’s happening the dollar is getting weakened.
