Babylonian Clay Tablet (1750 BC); letter from Nanni to Ea-nasir complaining that the wrong grade of copper ore has been delivered after a gulf voyage and about misdirection and delay of a further delivery. It was excavated by Sir Leonard Woolley, from Ur (in modern-day Iraq).
This is the oldest written customer complaint is "Complaint tablet to Ea-nasir" (1750 BC), around more than 3500 years old, acquired by the British Museum, in 1953.

Ancient Egyptian pin tumbler lock is one of earliest forms of locking technology, and its basic design is still used today. This lock used a wooden bolt that slid into a latch to secure a door. It feature was wooden pins of different lengths that blocked bolt from moving unless correct key was used.
The key was a wooden tool with pegs that matched the pins in lock. When inserted, pegs lifted pins to the right height, aligning them with crucial line that allowed bolt to slide and unlock door.

Ziggurat one of last standing monuments of Sumarians. Built sometime in 21st Century BC by King Ur-Nammu and his son Shulgi. It stood in the center of the city and was center of all administration. It is located near the modern-day city of Nasiriyah in southern Iraq, along the banks of the Euphrates River. It lies within the ancient city of Ur, which was one of the most important urban centers of ancient Mesopotamia.

Originating in what is now Iraq before 3200 BC, cuneiform script is, as far as we know, oldest form of writing in the world. The recording of a spoken language, emerged from earlier recording systems at the end of 4th Millennium BC. The first written language in Mesopotamia is called Sumerian. Most of early tablets come from the site of Uruk, in southern Mesopotamia, and it may have been here that this form of writing was invented.

Whistling jars are pottery vessels from Chimu culture of North Coast, Peru, that date back to 1000–1476 CE. The jars are often decorated with bird's heads that conceal whistle and smaller whistles may have fingerholes to adjust pitch. The sounds jars make depend on their size, shape, and fluid levels. These unique instruments or shamanic tools as we will later discuss, are called whistling vessels or otherwise known in Spanish as huaco silbadors.

Hirta Island (Ghost Town), outer Hebrides, Scotland - the last inhabitants of one of the U.K.'s most remote islands were evacuated in 1930...
Though St Kilda had been inhabited for more than 2,000 years, it’s been abandoned since 1930. When the last residents of the United Kingdom’s remotest islands requested evacuation to the mainland, they left behind a traditional Scottish coastal village which now lies in ruins.

In 1850, a farmer found a secret village. It was later determined to be older than the Great Pyramids of Egypt. Archeologists estimated that 100 people lived in this village named Skara Brae, the "Scottish Pompeii." The houses were connected to each other by tunnels, and each house could be closed off with a stone door.

Easter Island statues are iconic monolithic human figures carved by Rapa Nui people on Easter Island in eastern Polynesia between 1250-1500 AD. More than 3500 year old Minoan Road, the oldest road in Europe.
This incredibly ancient road stretches for 50km from Knossos in Crete; Greece, through the mountains to Gortyn and Lebena.
The road had side drains, a 200mm thick pavement of sandstone blocks bound with clay-gypsum mortar, covered by a layer of basaltic flagstones and had separate shoulders.

The magnificent 'Throne Room' in 15th Century BC, Palace of Knossos in Crete at the center of Minoan civilization is believed to be the oldest such room in Europe.
Minoan civilization flourished for approx. 2000 years. Knossos complex had large palace buildings, extensive workshop installations and luxurious rock-cut cave and tholos tombs. As a major center of trade and economy, Knossos maintained ties with majority of cities in Eastern Mediterranean.

This door is one of the oldest in the world located in the Pantheon in Rome, Italy. It was built in the year 118-126 AD, during time of Emperor Hadrian.
The gate consists of two wings, each made of solid bronze, weighs 8.5 tons, measures 7.6m high and 2.3m wide. Although the wings are extremely heavy, they are so balanced that a single person can easily open and close them.
It is also one of few doors in the world whose lock, dating back almost 2000 years, still works

Big-eyed figures carved into a stone block on the remote Pacific island of Nuku Hiva, probably depicting ancient deities or ancestors.
They are found in several different places on Marquesas Islands, French Polynesia, and are thought to date back to the 11th-14th Century AD.
Strange very ancient drawings of creatures with large eyes are also found in the neighboring region of Australia.

The mysterious horned helmet of Henry VIII, King of England and Scotland.
Henry VIII ruled the country from 1509 to 1547. Helmet was ordered as a gift in 1511 by Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I. They were allies. Both joined Holy League (1511–1513), an alliance formed by Pope Julius II to expel France from Apennine Peninsula.
Helmet was made by Konrad Seusenhofer, one of most famous gunsmiths in medieval Europe. It was part of an armor set, but other parts of armor have been lost over time.

A 2000 year-old marble thrones at the ancient theatre of Amphiareion of Oropos, Greece.
The Amphiareion at Oropos, sanctuary of the hero Amphiaraos, was greatly famed and frequented by pilgrims who went to seek oracular responses and healing.
The largest building in the sanctuary is a stoa (mid-4th Century BC) which served as enkoimeterion for the patients. The sanctuary also contained a theatre. The theatre is dated to the 2nd Century BC, by inscriptions and the seating.

Pampachiri Stone Forest and Smurf Houses in Andahuaylas Province, southern Peru
These mysterious rock formations originate from 3 million years ago are products of volcanic material expelled by nearby volcanoes Qarwarasu and Sotaya, over centuries wind and rain have done their job to produce these curious rocks.
Structures are between 6-8m high and often show smooth cone and fungus shape. About 1000 people live in Pampachiri village, some of them using these cone shaped structures for housing

The marble lace neckerchief carved by French sculptor Louis-Philippe Mouchy (1734-1801 CE), who masterfully created the marble statue in 1781 CE.
The statue was commissioned as a posthumous tribute to the Duke of Montausier, Charles de Sainte-Maure. The nobleman was one of the guardians of the Great Dauphin of France, Louis, son and heir of the Sun King, Louis XIV.

Catania Amphitheatre, built in 2nd Century AD, an ancient Roman structure located in Catania, Sicily. Once one of largest in Roman Empire, it accommodated around 15,000 spectators.
Situated between Piazza Stesicoro and Via Neve, much of amphitheatre remains buried under modern buildings and streets, with only portions visible at street level.
Excavations have uncovered only parts of structure, leaving questions about its full extent and features, of this significant historical landmark.

A rock chapel in the Lusatian Mountains has been a pilgrimage site for centuries :
Modlivý důl (Prayer Valley) near Svojkov in the Liberec Region is one of the most haunting spots in Lusatian Mountains. History of this pilgrimage site goes back to 1704 AD, when a local farmer placed a picture of the Virgin Mary on the rock face and prayed for a happy marriage and sons. Others followed his example and in 1760 AD, one of the locals replaced the image with a consecrated picture of the Virgin Mary.

Snow Goggles; first sunglasses were used 2000 years ago by Inuit hunters, inhabiting Arctic and subarctic regions of Greenland, Labrador, Quebec, Nunavut, to shield their eyes from blinding glare of light reflected off snow.
Made from carved driftwood, bone, walrus ivory or caribou antler that formed strip worn across eye area, with thin slits. Goggles were cut so that they fit tightly to face and often soot or gunpowder was rubbed on outside to absorb light and further cut down on glare.

In the tranquil countryside (lake district) of England, a bridge built in the 1st Century AD, stretches across time as well as water. Erected by the architects of the Roman Empire, this stone structure has endured the relentless march of time, still serving its original purpose nearly two thousand years after its construction.
