Seems that realistically, any entity capable of deploying a coordinated attack of more than 158PFLOPS (with some assumptions, 280PFLOPS ~= ~355.57EH/s) so 51% of the hash power of the entire network as of May 6, 2023 can successfully launch such an attack.
That’s a LOT of countries.
In fact it includes quite a few private companies with non distributed compute like IBM(who would’ve thought):

After rubbing these numbers, the network is less secure than most think and MUCH less secure than I think.
But I guess it’s more realistic to do a relative comparison of what it takes to topple the current world reserve currency vs BTC 🤔

I don’t think platforms will ever bear the cost. The additional dollars towards taxes coming from them will simply be passed down to consumers in some way; either higher amounts of privacy breaches or something else to increase monetization per user.

So much opportunity here for not just Africa but rest of the world.
As an immigrant, I can still say even to this date, I can’t frictionlessly transfer value to my place of origin.
It’s incredible how antiquated some of these systems are. (Not just banks, using even wise, PayPal etc is stressful, slow & somewhat risky)

Referential transparency and higher trust ability when reading code(imo).
I think pure functional is a stricter but “purer”(no pun intended) way to reason about code anyway vs impure functional/purely imperative styles.
You can absolutely use these benefits in some other languages, at least from my (somewhat limited) experience. Racket (scheme) is one example, but another, perhaps more popular being Scala. (monads)
I’ve yet to dive deeper into Haskell tbh but you raised an interesting observation & who knows I might finally get into it haha

Strongly agree.
Unless the broader market achieves consensus for btc being a safe haven, I don’t even know how it can be used responsibly in this specific case of what we are seeing with a bank run on SVB.
Like how does a company that wants to move away from banks but not from fiat(too much to put the entire balance sheet onto btc) achieve this today?

Idk if its just me but zapping through Damus works so well that it’s spoiling me.
Every time I need to send an interac transfer (p2p through banks in Canada), it just feels like a chore. (Takes about 5 times longer & is way more stressful with emails and what not, esp when you need to create a “contact” even for a 1 time transfer)
