so I thought that too, but it turns out I was having episodes that only lasted a couple of seconds often enough for them to catch a couple, and that's all they needed. Apparently if that hadn't worked, there's an implant they can give you ("about the size and shape of a matchstick") that's effectively permanent and obviously gives medics much more time to catch it. Honestly I'm kinda sad I didn't get one!

SVT = supraventricular tachycardia. There are lots of other things that can cause the same symptoms, so the only way to confirm it's SVT rather than some other tachycardia (and therefore if/how it can be treated) is to get an ECG while it's happening. I got given an ECG device to wear for a week, which caught a couple of small episodes.

I have SVT. Diagnosed last year after my pulse hit 170 and stayed there for half an hour when I was just bimbling around the kitchen making breakfast. The weird bit for me was I felt absolutely fine other than being aware of my pulse. No anxiety, no swears, nothing. But I've had palpitations my entire life, and it's only recently I discovered my palpitations aren't just what everyone experiences.
