@nprofile…7l9j Same. I haven't done this kind of damage before, usually it's one or two pins and a little care with needle-point tweezers took care of it. This... Haha no

@nprofile…a5s9 Shockingly, I tried a CPU swap and my instability problems continued. So I wanted to pull the CPU to check the pins again, and... Well, I sure did check them. I did it in-situ under my desk, with the PC mostly vertical, and the weird grip I had to do ended up with me dropping the CPU... And then instinctively catching it. Which was worse than if I had just let it fall hahaha
Everything's pretty much fine with my workstation now, thankfully, but not with that board. One day I'll get a proper microscope and some precision tools and try and repair the socket... If it can be repaired. This might be a reball job.

So... This is what's been going on the past little bit. If you're in the Discord, you know that it's pretty much been resolved now, but I've had to adjust plans for the new workstation build video, and also a video about the things that led me to this tragedy.

It's funny to me that people are talking about "Switch 2" when every Nintendo console launch I can remember has never used a sequential number and were instead referred by the codename, like Ultra64/Reality, Dolphin, Revolution, -uhhhhhh-, NX...

Greetings, Fediverse! Let me make an #introduction - I'm Emily, a recently out #trans girl, #lgbtq advocate, and giant #tech nerd.
This is a personal account, but since 2017 I've been working at #linustechtips as a writer and occasional host. I'm most well-known for #Linux and #retrogaming / #retrocomputing content, but my interests can be very broad - Especially with stuff I know nothing about!
Tech can be fun and tech can be a tool, and to that end, I advocate using (and breaking) every platform and learning about the days of computers past. Between work and home, I currently daily drive #Linux and #Windows in roughly equal measure.
I was a #sega kid, so that probably had something to do with that philosophy... And my fondness for FM synth.
