Ontario is actually moving forward with the dumbest and most counterproductive pieces of legislation I've ever seen: any new bike lane projects that remove any car lanes will be denied by the province.
There's no solution to car traffic except viable alternatives to driving, but Ontario is determined to ignore that reality.
It's also wild that so-called small govnement "Conservatives" think it's ok for the provincial government to meddle in municipal issues.

omfg my November video is going to be so ridiculously long. I'm hoping I can keep it under and hour, but there's so much to talk about.
And I've hired researchers, videographers, animators, and even a 3D artist. It's definitely going to be my most expensive video yet.
There's so much to come together. At this rate, it might just become my December video. 😬

The difference is that on many Toronto intersections there is no automatic swtich. The big stick is the switch.

One of these idiots is going to crash into an 80 year old on a bike and cause some serious damage.
They don't know what they're doing and they have no appreciation for the fact that there are children, disabled people, and the elderly on bikes all around them.
It's not all a bunch of 20-something males competing with car traffic like it is in the US.

I saw another video where a guy who had NO idea what he was doing cycled almost exclusively through the worst tourist-clogged streets of the Amsterdam binnenstad and had an awful time of it.
One of the top comments on that video was effectively, 'Wow! It's way worse than Not Just Bikes shows! I knew he was cherry-picking his clips!" 🤦‍♂️
I can't understand how people would fly all the way to the Netherlands from the US and not do ANY research before cycling here.

@npub1aud…az8x no, they do not typically wear helmets, but they do still ride 30+ km/h like they're trying to keep up with American traffic.
One of these guys is going to get somebody seriously injured because they have no idea of how to cycle in the Netherlands and arrogantly assume it's the same as the US.

The worst one was a guy who didn't realize that stoplights are on the near side of the junction, saw a left turn light like this one on the far side of the junction, and started going through the junction when it turned green.
Then he started ranting about how people are always running red lights in the Netherlands when somebody almost hits him ... meanwhile he's the one running the red light! 🙈
And absolutely none of them know what to do at an uitritconstructie. 😬

YouTube has started showing me videos of Americans coming to the Netherlands and cycling around, and I can't stop cringing.
They have no idea where they're going, they ride like they're in the Tour de France, and they very obviously don't know the rules of the road.
They mean well, but holy shit do some basic research before showing up. You're not in Portland anymore.
I have been putting it off for ages, but I'm really going to have to make a video about how to visit the Netherlands.

@npub1nd3…207y yeah, that will be nice, but the real thing I want from Mastodon is an algorithm, so that I don't need to see everything chronologically.
Right now my feed is dominated by those people who post most often and I know I'm missing some good stuff. An algorithm built to actually serve you what you want (vs what advertisers want) would be great.
