Ah. Thanks for letting me know. I read that book when I was young when it first came out. And the notion of collective power in a shared identity at a time when femaleness was derided as weak and singular rather than powerful when joined was revolutionary.

Down at the Town Dump, the latest weather report: 12 inches of snow Sunday, turning to sleet, icy rain, high winds, then cold rain. Our little tractor will have its work to do, pushing, lifting, then moving piles of heavy saturated snow that the snow thrower simply cannot physically lift and throw.
Sunday is an indoor day. Yay.
I live in a heavily wooded rural area, and the power crews were out last week cutting branches and removing standing dead wood (the ash borer has arrived), hopefully enough so we don't lose power.
Hope everyone else has a safe and peaceful tomorrow.

@npub1zdp…vqv8 As a curious 8 year old I conducted my own clandestine experiment I named "Does It Burn?". I watched my mom use an aluminum pie tin in the oven, so I used that as my holder. I created a list of things to test: Dirt, rocks, kleenex, newspaper, glass, brown paper bag, stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron. Each with a hypothesis. I used my Dad's matches and tested, and safely guessed each outcome until aluminum. There I learned an aluminum sheet does not burn if held horizontally, but if turned vertically, bursts into big flames like paper scaring the heck out of an unprepared 8 year old. Frightened, I dropped it into the pie tin. Which I realized was also ALUMINUM!!! Even more frightened I dropped the flaming sheet and pie tin into the trash can lined with a brown paper bag. Oh NO! Brown paper bags burn! I was so frightened I blew it all out with one adrenaline infused breath, then dumped the whole thing into the stainless steel kitchen sink and turned on the water. I stopped my experiments on that day. Science is very exciting. I became a poet.

Just read the excellent Mother Jones article on Dr Bandy Lee, a psychiatrist whose career is studying repeat violent criminal behavior and who publicly exercised her "Duty to Warn" in 2016 about the national violence threat posed by Trump, and was then sanctioned, censored, and then fired: Dr Lee warns, again, that while we will face an uptick in violence in holding Trump accountable, not to do so would damage our nation in the longterm.
She likens Trump's behavior to a gang leader, a man whose currency is fear - wielded for or against him, an emotionally impaired weak man unempathetic and self-focused, who gets away with it. Once a gang leader is incarcerated, his followers rethink their trust and delusion.
His campaign appearances directly corrolate to hate crime increases per capita in counties that host.
I thought DOJ might agree to a plea deal where he elocutes his guilt in exchange for no prison. I now believe he has to serve time to break the contagion of violence he sows.
