I think that is a genetically-coded thing, a gene switched on or off? The people to whom that applies are not the ones worrying over the latest studies, I imagine.

I do think that the soft-legalization of mind-altering substances in the West is an attempt at this, an attempt to pacify. I am not opposed, but I don't think it is working on the right people. Last year, I saw two men in separate vehicles playing cut-and-brake grab-ass for about seven miles on a highway during the 6 pm commute. They passed me (and everyone), but right before my exit, I saw both cars parked. One guy in a sleeveless shirt grappling with the guy in a button-down, right on the embankment.
Not as exciting as your experience. I do wonder how they both decided it was time to settle the matter outside of their vehicles.
