SPLC exposed the identities of authors on the anti-LGBT, anti-immigrant "news" site Not the Bee. The site was ineptly coded and was publishing the "secret" information in the source code of its pages. I hope SPLC is ready to be charged with CFAA violations, and that any judges involved are smart enough to understand that using "View Source" is not hacking.

In the ANC races, Kathy Henderson's petition challenges against Charquita McCray and Salvador Sauceda-Guzman were found to be improperly filed, as was Sauceda-Guzman's challenge against Henderson. There are lots of other ANC challenges, but KH always attracts the most attention. #DCElections #DCision24

Maybe the best outcome is for Trayon to win and then have a special election early next year. Except that might require expelling him twice, depending on how the case proceeds. These things have gone to a guilty plea pretty fast in the past, but this one might be different.

The one council challenge is moot because BOE has already rejected the petition for not having enough signatures even if 100% were valid. Watts turned in only 58 pages, each of which can hold at most 10 signatures. He needs 3,000 valid signatures.

Today was the deadline for the Recall Charles Allen campaign to turn in petitions (180 days after beginning signature collection). They say they managed to get only 5,500 of the 6,427 needed (which probably means the number of valid signatures is really in the low 4,000s at best), but they're asking the DC Board of Elections to somehow overlook that and hold the recall election anyway. #DCElections #DCision24

I'd expect a large part of the increase to come from people using LLMs to generate spam. If done competently that's got to be harder to detect than old-fashioned spam, and even if done incompetently (as most of it no doubt is) it's still likely leading to an increase in volume of spam.

How often do you get anything useful by googling a number that called? Almost always it's just a bunch of index spam pages full of fake names and addresses. Making it easier to get to that doesn't solve any problem.
