Packaging news: thanks to a new (and very active 👍) contributor, Bruno, we now have a MSIX package 📦 which is still being tested and will replace the current MS Store 🪟 package for GIMP 3 (this will give us proper update from the store and better support of store features in general).
As if not enough, Bruno also implemented an AppImage 📦build for Linux 🐧, though it's currently only usable for development testing.

GIMP 2.99.18 is out! Enjoy, everyone! This release may be quite an unstable one, because it's in the middle of important "space invasion" work, so we don't recommend using it for production.
Consider it as a demo of what GIMP 3 will be, feature-wise. 😄

@npub12jg…0gha No we've seen this public for months. Intel showed us the Github link on October 3 (date of email when they notified us of its existence) and I believe we have seen people mention this plug-in on social networks even before that.
Also their article dates back from September 15.
So I'd say it's public at least since September. Possibly earlier than that. 🙂

And they told us the plug-in was featured in their Intel’s Innovation conference.

Mostly #Wayland-only (Linux) for now, though #GTK will hopefully get backends for Windows and macOS eventually!
The code is still in review, but no doubt it will be in GIMP by the 3.0 release. Very exciting!

We just published a revision 1 for the DMG packages of #[0] 2.10.34 for #[1] (both Apple Silicon and Intel architectures).
It fixes an ugly memory leak in one of our dependencies which was reported to us.
