Sporting organizations have always recklessly prioritized profits over the health of their athletes. Concussions and other injuries have shortened the lives of many athletes. It's unsurprising and tragic that now they are ignoring the long-term health impacts of COVID.

It's real dishonest that they keep saying that Tokyo was the "COVID Olympics" when it's Paris that is letting athletes collapse, drop out, and become hospitalized by allowing COVID to spread without any precautions.

Noah Lyles took strong precautions at the start of COVID due to having asthma, and though not perfect, has continued some leading into Paris.
We should be mad at the institutions who have normalized mass illness, and force people to choose between their careers or their health.

This is heartbreaking. Noah Lyles has asthma and is at higher risk for severe COVID. They had no preventative measures & let him race & collapse while sick with COVID. Lives & careers are being put at risk because governments & institutions insist on pretending COVID is over.

One of the advocates opposing the Nassau County mask ban was violently arrested by the cops at the meeting, as shown on this News 12 segment. Cops are already disproportionately targeting higher risk people wearing a mask before the mask ban is even signed into law.

If you are in Nassau County, please keep wearing mask. The mask ban bill does still include a health exception, so you have the right to assert that you are wearing a mask for health reasons. But the bill gives cops power to intimidate people wearing a mask, so please be careful.
