The Minister is Bridget Phillipson as of today, who also holds the position of "Minister of Education".

Remember ... it's a long-term project.
If it won't come to pass in 2025, then it may in 2029. Or 2033.
Opposition to Project 2025 (and hardening against it) needs to be in it for the long run.
Opposition has already started, e.g. in some blue states, but it needs to ramp up. E.g. by solid voting.

Not too bad.
As the accompanying text to the graph indicates, this has much to do with a fall-off on the demand side. A look there might be insightful.
This one from Statista may give a starting point, but it's not the final say. (i.e. domestic sector vs. industry)

Mixed feelings about this. (At my place, it's not as bad as in the UK, but bad enough.)
I share your feeling of sadness. It's rooted in loss (Didn't we do better at some time?) and of lost opportunity (The March of Time I mentioned earlier.).
But I also feel anger as specifically some certain people appear to be wilfully engaging in destroying achievements. And I wonder about our collective inadequacy as a society to prevent that. Romantic / idealistic - still!

On a similar, but connected note: The number of insects buzzing about in the summer has seriously decreased already over the years - certainly where I live. Yes - nice for the windshields of the car. No - bad for pollinations and food for birds etc. (It's more complicated than I make it out to be here, of course.) Already an economic issue for some food producing industries.

{{{grin}}} I am stunned myself how much of my professional IT knowledge has lost it's value since retirement. As you described. What's left is just a little bit more of a "gut feeling" and the big picture and the very occasional very limited deep dive. Processes, procedures and development / maintenance standards sure have changed.
Then, there is so much else to do and enjoy than keeping up to speed 24/7 with the bits and pieces. Shame on me.
