I sure do like to overthink things, and end up falling down a rabbit hole of planning.
Today's randomness was thanks to having ordered a new phone, decided I might need to make more use of a browser without extensions (hence no uBO), investigating ad blocking DNS servers, reading up on adguard home, spinning up an instance to test using Podman, and planning to self host it and completely redo my router configuration.
Because I ordered a new phone... which hasn't even arrived yet!

the PC Engines hardware has always looked tempting - hope it runs well enough for your new connection.
If you do go looking for alternatives, I'm currently planning ahead for a similar situation, and thinking about either the Pi CM4 with this https://thepihut.com/products/raspberry-pi-compute-module-4-iot-router-carrier-board-mini (and aluminium case) or the Nanopi R2S. Both are well supported by OpenWRT, and supposedly handle gigabit with ease. Just buy a managed switch to go with it.
Obviously I've not tested either myself yet.

Got new glasses today for the first time in years. Stuff looks clearer, but at the same time very weird.
New lenses are slightly larger, so cover much more of my peripheral vision than before. I'm fine as long as I don't move my head at all 🤓🥸😵‍💫
