I know many of you depend on my boosting for a curated "best of the Fediverse" feed. And normally I enjoy providing that.
But recent events, especially politics, are taking a toll. It's very difficult to read not just the news itself but your reactions to it.
I'm dealing with a LOT of existential dread right now. As are many of my #trans siblings. And mental health comes first.
So, you may notice the firehose slow to a trickle. Or even stop for awhile.

Yeah, I love living in a condo now that I'm divorced. So much smaller and easier to clean. I only have one shared wall with a neighbor who, for all intents and purposes, is entombed in their unit because I never hear a peep from them. And not having to deal with yard work, exterior maintenance and other horseshit is sooooo liberating.
I was a homeowner (of multiple homes) with a family for over thirty years. But now I definitely prefer the condo.

LOL! 🤣 The worst day in my new condo was when the separate *system wide* fire alarm started screaming and every resident in the entire complex had to bolt from their homes because IT WAS SO GODDAMN LOUD! 🤦‍♀️ Took over an hour for the management company and the fire department to figure out how to turn the damn thing off. 🤷‍♀️

I just realized that other than comments (several hundred) and boosts (an absolute metric fuckton), I haven't posted anything else here in over two months. IOW, no unique-standalone-clever-AF toots.
WTH? Sometimes it's like I don't even know how to use social media, build an audience or preen like the queen I believe myself to be.

The temporarily removed features were the quick filter bar in the Notifications view (which looks better now!) and Back buttons/arrows (which also look better now!) in several views, e.g. in Lists.

Two weeks ago, a build of Mastodon's Web interface removed two features which impacted me, other power users and some folks with accessibility issues.
And many of us complained 'cause, well, it kinda sucked.
But [@renchap](https://oisaur.com/@renchap) and the developers listened to us! And they didn't just back out those changes. No, they restored the functionality integrated with other new features.
So, I wanted to publicly thank them for all that hard work and landing it last week. Y'all rock! 💖

With #Phanpy, liking or boosting posts---as you know, something I might do once or twice a day 🙄---requires multiple clicks since Phanpy's timeline post preview tiles don't have affordances for either task. 🤦‍♀️
You need to right click on a post preview for a context menu or left click to get an enlarged view in order to like or boost. And for boosting you need another click to select between a normal boost and a quote post. This dance is... very inconvenient. 😬

And while #Phanpy allows creating a shortcut/pinned column for most views, including an individual List, for some mind-numbing reason Phanpy does *NOT* allow the Lists view itself (i.e. the view of *all* your lists) to be a shortcut/pinned column. 🤦‍♀️
Why is this important? Because if you have a shitload of lists like I do, then going back and forth from the master Lists view is something you do *A LOT*. And you don't want to shortcut/pin that many single List views.

After the disruption from the nightly build on Monday, I began experimenting with both [@phanpy](https://hachyderm.io/@phanpy) and [@elk](https://m.webtoo.ls/@elk), alternate Web interfaces for Mastodon.
While #Elk is quite nice with always-available mouse-based back navigation, it doesn't seem to support either multi-column views or auto-refreshing timelines.
So, #Phanpy is a much better fit for my use case. However, it suffers the same limitation sorting notifications as the current unfixed nightly build, i.e. no quick-access filter bar.

Yes, when I'm actively boosting or posting then I get a ton of notifications.
And, also yes, I want to examine them one type at a time. This is the way my mind works, as I suspect it does for other neurodivergent people.
And I need to do this quickly. The new configuration panel is way too time consuming and fiddly for that.
How many new notification types are you planning to add? This is not just a problem for the quick-access bar but your configuration panel as well.

Oh! Ah, sort of like what Phanpy does. That would useful then. Thanks!
But it doesn't solve my and other people's needs for quickly viewing different notification types. That's an orthogonal issue.
Without the quick-access filter bar, we all have to constantly use that configuration panel just to change the view. That's what we're unhappy with.

I use the notification quick-access bar to select between viewing notification types. Quickly. I only ever want to see either all notifications or only notifications of a certain type. The old quick-access bar was perfect for that.
I'm not sure what you mean by "notifications grouping." Can you explain? Is that what the new UI does? If so, I would never use it because it's just too much work to fiddle with since I would have to be changing it constantly.

I understand your developer constraints and time zone. Thank you.
But please be aware that the current state of the Mastodon Web client severely impacts my ability to curate and augment the feed of over 25,000 other accounts. Most importantly, the speed at which I can do that.
I already donate multiple hours of my day for this task. At this point, I can't really dedicate more time. My apologies.

I always use the advanced Web interface for Mastodon to do my "boosting thang" efficiently.
Normally I don't comment on the software. But a sudden change to the Notifications tab in the v4.3.0-nightly.2024-03-18 build is really pissing me off.
I can now only choose between viewing "All" and "Mentions." Gone is the ability to *easily* filter by notification type in the column header.
WTF?!? This is a *hostile* UI simplification. Please revert this. Thank you.
