It is wonderful that #Google has taken steps to support the `DiscussionForumPosting` type. They used to classify forum topics/posts by their own proprietary metrics and formulas, and it was always a gamble as to what Google would consider indexable. With these latest changes, **site owners themselves** are able to explicitly highlight which items are important for search engines to consume, in a standards-compliant way. 💯 !

How do you publicly disclose your #security #vulnerabilities
We used to post them on our forum... sometimes on #GitHub, sometimes via changelog, sometimes not at all. It was pretty haphazard, involved a lot of manual steps, and we needed to do better.
So we decided to throw some #code (and some #nocode) at this problem and centralized it all while keeping a bunch of options open for interested parties 👇

Today, two major sites took steps towards closing off their walled gardens even more.
#Reddit's revised #API pricing came into effect, and #Twitter now requires a login for viewing public tweets (breaking all Twitter embeds worldwide)
While I can snark and say "and nothing of value was lost", that's not true at all. Reams of good, valuable content (admittedly amidst a lot of trash) is now locked away, essentially forever.
Reject walled gardens, reject #enshittification, embrace open source.

Mea culpa time — you might've heard that we're hacking away (in the best sense of the word) at #ActivityPub support in #NodeBB, but it turns out someone asked for it back in 2019 and it got zero buy-in from our founders 😥

We've been on Twitter for over ten years now. This account has been on #Mastodon for close to two months.
I've seen more engagement in those two months (hell, even just this past week) than I have in all of those ten years on Twitter.
Maybe there's something to this #fediverse thing after all 😉 — just saying.

Been in active development outside the realm of the #fediverse until this year, so we're doing the work to figure out just how AP can work with our existing schema and expectations. So far a lot of the concepts are identical 🤞

With all this #RedditMigration going on, there's been a renewed interest in #forums, especially with #activitypub integration.
We've got @npub1c3w…8xn9 working on it. I'm hoping we don't miss the boat by the time it can be rolled out, but we want to do right by the #fediverse and come out swinging with a highly interoperable frontend to the fediverse-at-large.

We use a cron job to pull translations in regularly.
