Bitcoiners talk a lot about “incentives” and I’ve recently started to gain a better understanding:
On @npub14mc…frlx’s podcast, @npub1jdw…ujzl does a great job of explaining that wanting to make everything fair and by removing certain advantages so everyone can get the same outcome, completely changes the incentives of society. It rewards the wrong things and allows mediocrity to compound. Why innovate if there are no incentives?
Whereas free and open markets truly allow merit to rise. The small minority of people who create valuable products and services that change the world need to be shown the incentives in order to innovate.
An easy example of this is taxes: If business taxes are high, entrepreneurs won’t be incentivized to take the necessary risks to bring new products to market.
#Bitcoin helps you understand how market incentives affect human behaviour.

This might be a first… Here is the “Proof-of-Work” Bitcoin Bachelor Party!
Cycled 300KMs across 3 days along the Pacific Marine Circle Route on Vancouver Island, BC.
I’m drawn to Bitcoin and fitness because they both require humility, discipline, and dedication. Bitcoin is a complex subject that demands countless hours of study to understand it. It encourages critical thinking and rewards those who put in the effort and are open-minded enough to learn about it. Meanwhile, fitness is all about self-discipline. Your health can't be bought with money or power. You need to put in the time and energy if you want your body to perform in a certain way.
This trip was the best of both worlds for me. To cap it off, we ended up visiting Victoria Kayak where we purchased one person a free ticket to Learning Bitcoin using sats of course! I used to watch/listen to books and podcasts at 1.5-2x speed in order to save time and be more efficient. I took pride in thinking I was "smarter" than the typical consumer because I was blowing through tons of content.
However, I started to realize that I was not ingesting what I was listening to, particularly when I was multi-tasking. Ask yourself, if you attended a university lecture on mathematics and macroeconomics, how much would you learn if you were doing pushups and box jumps at the same time?
The podcasts and books that are online today are incredibly valuable and I took this for granted. My goal now is to sit down and listen/take notes on one podcast episode per week, digest the information, and be able to summarize the content to a friend, in a few key talking points. Learning isn't about chasing degrees and certificates... We need to normalize giving ourselves TIME to think deeply about what we've learnt but also the SPACE to determine what it actually means.

Been listening to a lot of @npub1s5y…6q7z lately and one of my takeaways is:
Our current economic landscape is far from resembling free and open markets. Whenever a slight crack appears within the financial system, Central Banks swiftly intervene to avert a complete collapse (most recently Silicon Valley Bank). This degree of intervention shows how heavily manipulated the markets are and its inability to self-correct. Troubled actors like banks who misallocate capital and businesses who take on excessive risk are shielded from failure, so instead of addressing the underlying issues, we often resort to short-term solutions, perpetuating a cycle of delayed consequences. This recurring behavior has led to excessive levels of debt, the endorsement of risky and unsustainable practices, and the distortion of the natural flow of capital that should seek out the most valuable opportunities.

Bitcoin is changing the world and it's an honour to see it happening in real time. I'm thrilled to have been selected for the 5th @npub1kmw…xqk9 Grant for Education in Bitcoin Communities and it's a privilege to get to share Bitcoin with my students.
I discovered Bitcoin by accident. I'm fortunate that I did not seek out Bitcoin because of life-threatening circumstances, but it's had such a profound impact on my life, changing my perspective on the world and forcing me to think more critically.
One of the most significant shifts I experienced was a gradual decrease in selfishness. I'm less concerned about the potential financial gains and more driven by the importance of empowering individuals and building communities. This realization brought me to the Bitcoin community where I have encountered such kind-hearted, passionate, and loving people who will stop at nothing to make the world a better place.
The energy from the Bitcoin community is infectious, it lights this fire inside of you to wake up every morning with a mission to help others. If we fix the money, we fix the world. @npub1dtg…up6m wrote, "When the individual changes their behavior for the better, the world changes for the better." Bitcoin has undoubtedly changed my behaviour and I hope to contribute to a better world.
I would like to congratulate all of the other Geyser Grant applicants and winners for their efforts to spread Bitcoin to their communities, and a special shoutout to my partners at @npub17cy…4ml3 for pioneering community-led Bitcoin education around the world.

We are the Genesis Block of Hong Kong and our Mission is to build a Bitcoin school for students to learn about the history of money and monetary policy, while developing the practical skills around using Bitcoin.
Our program includes hands-on activities that allow students to build their own Bitcoin projects using LNbits and BTCPay Server, run a Bitcoin node on Umbrel, set up both Lightning and on-chain wallets, and learn how to send, receive, and verify Bitcoin transactions.
With the right tools, we envision a micro circular economy growing at our school with the intention of educating students on how to participate in the larger Bitcoin ecosystem.
We have the following initiatives for the coming year:
1. Deliver the My First Bitcoin Diploma Program to 50+ students.
2. Promote Bitcoin usage within our extra-curricular activities program.
3. Use Bitcoin for remittance payments to the Philippines using Pouch.
