It’s easy enough to sit around and babble buzzwords, but I don’t think you have really thought your position. Look what happened when the American religious right got involved in “the system”—they made all sorts of bad things happen. Why not participate in democracy?

@npub15th…6nvx Waiting for things to get SO BAD that “the masses” will embrace your ideas is immoral and callous. And even then, no one knows how your ideal communist utopia will actually work.
As far as I can tell, communism assumes that world is supposed to take this fictional Hegelian leap into some new imaginary ideal society that just appears out of nowhere.
Marx did a bang-up job of critiquing capitalism but he and his followers did a horrible job of imagining a realistic replacement.

The American left has this bizarre philosophy that “once things get bad enough, the masses will suddenly see the light and put us in charge.” Not only is it callous, because you are actively rooting for capitalism to inflict enough pain that people will revolt, but it is arrogant beyond belief.

Lenin tried using authoritarianism to force a communist utopia on Russia by installing a “revolutionary vanguard” and look how far it got him.
Bottom line is that almost all current communist theories have an “INSERT_MIRACLE” command from today’s capitalism to their fictional utopia.

“Video taken at the time showed officers using tear gas and pepper spray on protesters who had gathered minutes earlier. Plaintiffs also said that officers used rubber bullets.”
That doesn’t sound like the protesters did anything illegal or violent.

I don’t think so. If you look at many peaceful protests like the BLM protests, the police dived right in and turned it into mayhem. Also, there has been evidence that the FBI sent at least one agents provocateur into the BLM protests to make them violent.
