I should have left academia sooner than I did. No regrets about studying philosophy though. Social anthropology, on the other hand, was when they tried to feed me nonsense and activist propaganda from a fire hose. Having studied philosophy before actually made me more resistant to their crappy arguments.

Thanks! Yes, I'm aware. I intentionally used 24 words for demonstration purposes. A memory technique that works with 24 words should obviously work for 12 as well. One difference though is that you will probably not need the vertical lines with 12 words – just dividing up the seed in 3 groups of 4 words each should be enough.

A simple way to memorize a 24 word seed.
Write your words like this:

Cover up all words with a paper and slide it to the right, revealing 4 words at a time. Only work with groups of 8 words at the time, as indicated by the vertical lines. For each group, try saying the next 4 words in your head before revealing them. If you can't, reveal them anyway by moving the paper, say them, and then cover up all words in the group of 8 again. You will likely have to move the paper back and fourth a lot during the first practice round.
Do 3 trials a day – not more, cramming is a waste of time. One trial means that you have worked with each group of 8 until you have recalled the words just once when covered up by the paper. The first trial should take less than 3 minutes if done right! Speed will grow proportionally from that. You want to be able to remember the words at least as fast as you are able to read them.
I'm still doing some testing and will provide more data later. The preliminary results suggests that total practice time should be less than 15 minutes if spread out over a week.
Note: I'm not suggesting that anyone only store their seed in memory. I view this as one backup among several, and whether it's a good idea to memorize a seed depends on personal circumstances.

Coinjoining when moving in and out of Bisq is such a pain. I really like the idea of just buying L-BTC instead. That said, I just checked and there are no current offers to buy L-BTC. Here's something I've found helpful for staying focused. I divide up the day into different 'time zones' or windows where I'm only allowed to use the computer for certain tasks. Each window is signaled by a different desktop background.
For example, I have a two-hour window in the morning where I'm only allowed to use my computer for creating stuff – writing, coding, and so on. In that window, I use this background:

The memory technique used with Border Wallet is amazing, but a moments reflection on the trade-offs makes me skeptical. Problems with Border Wallet:
1) It just substitutes having to keep track of a word list for having to store one's entropy grid. The entropy grid is unique to you. If lost, the memorized the pattern is useless. One can argue that this is a security feature, but it's still misleading to say that you have "memorized" the wallet. The 12 or 24 words would also be useless if the BIP39 word list was lost, but since that list is a public standard, individuals don't need to store it.
2) The current method requires you to create a new seed. If you already have a seed, you have to sweep your funds to the new wallet. This is problematic for those trying to keep their UTXOs private.
3) You have to trust a lot more software for generating the entropy grid.
4) The process of creating a Border Wallet, taken as whole, is unnecessarily more complicated than just memorizing words on paper. If you are struggling, it's likely because you trying to cram to many words in a single day. A few minutes of daily spaced practice will work better. Practicing in chunks of 8 and then 12 words also helps.

When learning a new skill, it's not always a good idea to immediately force the "right" technique. You should allow for random exploration and mistakes. Why?
Highly supervised learning may seem more efficient on the surface, but it can end up producing fragile behavior. By fragile, I mean that the learner will struggle to adapt when something unexpected happens. Random exploration may seem like an inefficient way of learning, but it has been shown to produce more adaptive and flexible behavior.
