One of the reasons we allow the OS makers to (more or less, for Android) gatekeep app installs is the convenience tradeoff. In theory, the app store pushes auto updates so all your shit is already updated with no effort.
Except they've fucking dropped the ball totally on that.
I've opened 4 apps today, aside from my browser.
Four times, I've been told "We have an exciting new update! Go to your app store to download it!"
Useless gate keeping rent seeking assholes.

Idea: cartridge for a classic console like a Genesis, that hosts a modern SBC and boots into a terminal app for the host console that speaks to the SBC via some sort of bit-banged protocol over the cart bus. Genesis could be extra fun because it has audio lines on the cart port.
Not because it'd be a _good_ idea, but I think it would be cool. Also, I think using a Genesis as an on-screen keyboard would be Foone-level input device fuckery.

Looks like it’s becoming quite a thing to boycott US products. All the local grocery stores we shop from have specifically “Buy Canadian” sections, and they’re starting to highlight other non-US foods’ countries of origin.
keep in mind, it’s “boycott America”, not just “buy Canadian” - we want to isolate them, not us. Look for local Canadian produce first, but there’s a whole world out there we’ve got good to great relationships with.

Yeah. I'm leaning that way too; apps keep getting worse and I'll be seriously thinking about a Tangara or something. I'm annoyed with myself that I let my local collection go when Apple prioritised the cloud so hard. I feel like I should've known better even by then.

Weird. I'd noticed my Apple Music algorithmic feeds were getting really stale. Went to check my library, and most of it is missing. Dozens and dozens of artists that should be in my library aren't. Folks I know I've added to my library over the last decades.
My theory is a flaky migration at some point lost a bunch of my data. Going through now, search and "Similar artists", to rebuild my library.

And the redirect means relative links will already be on the 2017 subdomajn so won't be masked by newer resources.

There is some wisdom there. There is also some toxic douche-bro-dery like "comments are an apology for hard to read code", and a number of things that are expressly the opposite of best practice, but somebody higher up likes it that way.
There is also ample opportunity for future wisdom.

In my last couple years of high school I had a terrible physics teacher then a terrible calculus teacher.
Took the joy out of learning the cool stuff, the math I'd been waiting *years* to start learning at school.
My uncle noticed and started slipping me his college math textbooks. Had to teach myself trig and statistics and what calculus I worked out.

My dad got a deer the other day.
Accidental death; it was in a neighbour's back yard and got spooked, fled straight into a tree and broke its neck. Dad seems to just be the guy you call when you have a dead deer (2 of the previous 3 deer he had were friends' car crashes), so he got the call.
I'm looking forward to some nice venison when it's back from the butcher! Local deer are well fed on corn & soy, fat & tasty.

I worked in a shop where the developers were not allowed accounts on the prod machines, because security.
We did prod stuff all the damn time. No accounts, though, that's insecure!
When a dev needed to do prod server stuff, we were provided the root password.
