Green On Blue, Mark Rothko
I don't think I've posted any of these Mark Rothko paintings. I saw this labelled Green On Blue, which makes me wonder if they copied bad information, or if the artist was being profound 😁
Maybe that's a green black.
My friend told me that these are really big, and that being in the room with them had an impact. (Rothko made a bunch of these in different colors.) It's incredible how color can transmit a mood.

I guess this is a big painting irl, I think that's awesome, I'm going to paint big paintings someday (when I retire and have time).
Hummingbirds and cacti embody desperation in a way?
Hummingbirds can never, ever stop, they have to keep moving and eating, they zip around like bullets, I think they eat double their body weight every day.
Cacti gotta hold on to that water! and protect it with spikes!

This guy! "What? What's so funny? Do I have something on my face? Is my perfectly sensible and fashionable wizard helmet askew?"
I think it's awesome that at this time in history they were making everything very "futuristic", I think this was meant to be taken seriously. Look at that steely gaze!
That guy could be woke, but I doubt it. I haven't read the story.

the Lobster's Quadrille, from Alice In Wonderland illustrated by Salvador Dalí
here's another one of these watercolors by Dalí. I didn't know that he illustrated Alice In Wonderland, which I still haven't read.
Before image search I thought it was a great stand-alone work, I was seeing kings and transformations, burning caterpillar men turning into firebirds. War. I've learned that the girl with the jump-rope is Alice. 10/10 🌩️

nice design or arrangement, just the right amount of detail. I love the impersonal ferocity of owls' eyes, I love watching videos that are online of baby owls walking around, looking around, they've always got the high beams on. They look so AWARE.

There are 3 types of paths I saw when I was flipping through my image folder. The first one, you can see a sort of reflection of a mountain that isn't there, but in that position the path must be downhill if that makes sense.
With color in the atmosphere.
The next one the path is more or less level but constrained.
In the last one the path is endlessly uphill through a grisly citadel.

I love that people are into things that are wrecked and abandoned and crumbling. "This thing all things devours", I have a bunch of images of great achievements that are being consumed or rendered to their component molecules by time and natural processes. Everything will change, is changing, must change.
Shipwreck in Greece, an Ottoman train destroyed WWI, a British plane in the Sahara from WWII. Reverse image search will lead to interesting reads

I love the color 🥹
seems a little spooky and mysterious. Why is there a fire in the street outside the police station?
The townsfolk don't seem too alarmed, but is there something under the surface, dissatisfaction? Is this a deliberate fire?
What about those dark figures walking away up the hill. I identify with those dark figures.
What is going on here?

not sure of the title. I saw this attributed to him in several places although apparently he was known as a fashion designer.
Love the subtle color variations, moonlight breaking through clouds over rolling waves, a single star in the sky, maybe the first star we see tonight. there are very thin light lines that help define everything, everything has a little glow.
