Went to LinkedIn, first post showed a “roadmap for senior engineers” with about 100 distinct skills on it, with high slant towards CompSci skills. (“Bloom filters”, “sorting algos”, “L3/L4/L7 load balancing”)
Senior engineers need to be _good_ at a handful of things (expertise in one area, almost-expertise in some others), but _great_ at passing down that knowledge and knowing when to ask for help.
