I agree as well! a lot of this feeling is because we’ve been conditioned to expect calls to waste our time. however, speaking to someone directly, or having a face to face conversation is often the fastest and most effective way to communicate. that’s why Vida facilitates paid communication only. any call you receive is paying you a rate you configure yourself.

btw, we plan to open source a server that can be run along side a nostr relay to handle these voip registrations and simple routing. this is part of why i’d like to collaborate since it would help us make the integration seamless.

Yep, with Vida you can host and Vida can stream live shows, require payments to view them if you want or make them free, automatically split payments with other hosts, forward streams to multiple destinations and much more (oh and you can auth with just a Nostr pubkey 😉)

agree that login with nostr offers a lot of wins!
we implemented "Login With Nostr" on https://vida.page via a simple 2-Factor DM flow. it's a UX users are familiar with and works on web+mobile.
basically the user gives us a pubkey or a nip-05. if nip-05 we check for relays and auto fill, if just pubkey we also ask them for a relay. then we send them a pin via encrypted DM and ask them to input the pin. if successful, we will their public details via the same relay and provision their account.

I’m going to try to do something like this on Vida. For example, it would let us make it easy for Nostr clients to link a user directly into an audio/video spaces room (or even pull external streams into the app directly via API). Lots of possibilities for other stuff too!

This is an idea for a NIP that would make it easy for external apps, services, and APIs to automatically integrate with Nostr clients.
- Sign a message containing a timestamp within X seconds (or minutes) of “now”.
- Client appends the signed message as a URL param (or via POST) in supported links presented to users.
- The Service sees the command, fetches and provisions profile info if needed, and grants access to the service to the user.

Stateless is a win but it seems like it just trades one set of unimplemented complexities for another set of known L2 complexities. PoW tis *someone* paying. Who does the PoW? Clients directly or intermediaries? Also, what is the end state? ASICs for nostr posting?
Seems similar to arguments around building a new L1 chain vs just using Bitcoin’s L2.
Anyway, excited to see how it plays out! 🍿

PoW is users (or someone) paying. Is the idea that clients actually perform the PoW or intermediaries?

not sure what you mean by “via invoice address”? your vida username is a working Lightning address. you can also add another LNUrl or lightning address to your account so your earnings flow through to it.
