I read somewhere the other day, that NASA is tracking a space rock that comes by earth every so often. The value of its precious metals are worth 5x the world economy. NASA has a probe out there that will visit it in the next year or 2. I wonder if they found a way to mine that rock what would happen. Everybody on earth could have a gold plated car, house, furniture, etc. Where would the scarcity value in that be?

I honestly don’t have a problem with Corporations, Germany, and the US for that matter selling off their stock pile of Bitcoin. Get it back into the hands of the people, where it belongs. I’d also rather not see any countries backing their currencies with Bitcoin. They are notorious for printing more than they have backed anyway. Of course if they get caught at it, they will make excuses, or claim the fiat is backed with other assets instead. Thinking about Bitcoin and World reserve currency. If any world government or power to claim world reserve status, how could that government ever be trusted to not abuse that status. Do they back there currency with precious metals or even Bitcoin. Can you trust them to not print more currency than they really have. Wasn’t that the problem when the US took us off the gold standard. Was there more currency sloshing around in the world then there was gold to cover it. Even if we backed this world reserve currency with Bitcoin, can we trust the government to not print more Fiat then there is Bitcoin to cover it. Why not just proclaim Bitcoin is the world reserve currency. You can’t print money to buy it. You have to earn it by mining it, or trading some natural resource or service to get it. That’s what a fair for all World currency would look like.

Posing a question here?
How do the builders, developers, clients, relays, etc. who do all of this work to make Nostr better get compensated for their efforts? I get how Zaps will incentivize creators, and that’s a good thing.
But what about the developers, putting in their time to make this work.
I don’t think a PBS style, let’s go on the air and beg for funds is viable.
But what if with Zaps going into funds to support these developers;
A small Zap is initiated with;
Each new signup.
Each post.
Each response to a post.
Each follow.
Each relay hookup.
And then to keep those Zap amounts small enough that it does not discourage persons from joining in;
Creators would share a small percentage of Zaps sent their way in some automated way, to go to these funds.
There should also be a way that the amounts flowing into these funds is completely public, and viewable by all participants in the system.
Distribution of those funds to the people doing the work could be automated in some way, and also made public for all to view.
If you really want this to work, go ZAP. Volunteers are great, but they need to make a living also.

Apparently there is no incentive to fix a broken system. There is too much profit to be made by the people running that system to want to fix it. The only way to stop those people from raping their constituents is to opt out of their system. If enough people opt out, then that diminishes their power over us. At that point maybe some people entering into governmental or political positions will actually be more concerned and caring about their constituents, than they do about their own profits. Bitcoin is the opt out, if you learn how to use it properly. The ETF’s are just another way to Opt in to their system, that they can fix for their own profits. Educate and Simplify the use of Bitcoin so even a 3rd grader could understand and safely use it is of paramount importance.

My 2 cents on this subject. Sure it’s not easy. You start it as a hobby consuming some of your spare time for the love of it. It blossoms into something that is consuming more than just your spare time, but it’s still for the love of it. However, you have to put a roof over your head, and feed the family. 1 million people seeing one of your blog posts, or videos in a months time contributing 1 or 2 cents. Not there yet! I have always had a problem with Traders! I work at a shit show job, to earn money to put food on the table and a roof over my head. I use any extra money that I can put aside to invest. I invest in things or people I believe in. I buy into a company that makes stuff that I use, and like the product. I invest in a company that provides a service that I like, and make use of. I want to own a piece of that, and hopefully be rewarded by the successes of these companies that I put my hard earned money into. I’m not interested in swapping in and out of investments just to see how well i can play the game. Just to stack a few more pennies on my Cash stack. I buy Bitcoin with some of my hard earned money because i believe it is the future of money. I like the way it works. I like to study it, and use it the way it was designed to be used. I like to see the work that developers are putting forth to improve its use case for the average non technical person. I don’t trade it. I Stack it, and use it.

Let me see if I got this right. Buying into a Bitcoin ETF, is essentially taking bitcoin off the market and locking it up in a cage, never to be used as it was designed to be used. It’s being seen as a commodity, but this commodity is not used to make anything with, and also never disintegrates or spoils. It’s not being used as a utility of which it was meant to be. It’s just a storage container for Fiat money. You put the Fiat in the storage compartment, and hopefully like a fine wine, the fiat appreciates in value. You can then take the Fiat out of storage and spend it. The storage container which is Bitcoin remains with the ETF, waiting for more Fiat to be stored in it. But isn’t the value of Bitcoin really in its utility. What if Bitcoin has no utility any longer because the ETF’s have captured so much of it, that the network is not really used any longer. Wouldn’t the value of this container become less over time if its utility was diminished. Kind of like a barrel storing a fine wine, but instead the wine spoils in the barrel. The barrel is no good any longer and must be discarded. If the people that have their fiat stored in this container find that the fiat is not appreciating as they expected, they will want to remove their fiat from these containers and store it somewhere else. Will the ETF’s then be stuck with these containers that will never spoil, and find themselves in a spot that they will need to dump these empty containers on the open market, so that they may eventually become the utility that they were supposed to be. Will the network survive this?

Looking at the Fiat price of Bitcoin in the last few years always reminds me of the Song Lyrics - “Push it down, it comes out sideways.”
As much as the manipulators try to keep the price down, it usually comes out sideways. It’s a fools game to short Bitcoin.
As much as they try, they cannot manipulate the innovation that is Bitcoin.
Innovators, continue to innovate around the core value of the technology that is Bitcoin. The innovator’s continue to enhance daily, the ease of use for the everyday person to be able to safely make use of this new innovation. As they do, the adoption curve rises exponentially, pushing it thru any down pressure that can be exerted by governments or institutions wanting to see this innovation squashed, or at least brought under their control.
Don’t dare let them lead you to believe that some new fangled ETF is the true innovation of Bitcoin. It’s not. The ETF is only a tool the institutions will use to line their own pockets with Fiat money from trusting clients that will never take the time to understand what Bitcoin really is. The internet is a truly remarkable world wide phenomenon, and Bitcoin is the money of the internet. Making it also the money of the World. Don’t forget how important that is.

The US dollar will drain your natural resources. The US will endlessly print money to buy your resources. As they do your classes of your people will divide into more disperse upper, middle and lower classes of people. As the printed money filters down to the lower class it will buy them less, and they will need social welfare to survive. As your upper class requires more dollars for your resources, the US will print more $ and send them to you. No skin off them. They have a license to print endlessly. Your food supply will be bought up by the US for amounts of dollars that makes it non-sense for your producers to sell there product into your own economy, therefore starving out your lower class, or at least providing to them a inferior source of nutrition leading to obesity in many people in your nation. You only need to look at the lower class of America to see that has already happened to them. Bitcoin is your real defense against this scenario playing out. Force foreign money printers to buy your resources with Bitcoin. The value of your Bitcoin will rise faster then inflation.

One of the things in this that ruffles my feathers is the notion that Bitcoin wants to replace the national currency. I don’t think that needs to be true. National currencies could still exist. Bitcoin would be a choice that free people could use as an alternative as needed. A world wide internet currency that knows no boundaries. A currency that may force national fiat currencies to behave themselves as not to lose their peoples confidence of it’s value.

It may be that Venezuela is heading in the same direction by adopting the US dollar as their currency. The US will be able to drain their natural resources simply by printing worthless dollars and distributing them into their economy.
Now if instead, Venezuela were to sell it’s natural resources for Bitcoin, then World Governments would be forced to Buy Bitcoin with those worthless printed fiat currencies, which would in turn raise the value of Bitcoin that Venezuelan’s have earned, and in turn stop inflation in their country.

I think the USA should take a hard look at a different tax scheme. Income, and Capital Gains taxes have been gamed so badly, that the IRS is just a big mess. I think Consumption Tax, which exempts direct labor, property rental, and Charitable contributions, would be more straight forward and fair to all. You could abolish the IRS, and the cost of all that documentation and cost of chasing down tax evasion. And I mean no other taxation at the state levels either. No additional taxes from property tax, etc. A straight forward % across the board to fund the Fed, and state governments. Collection of this tax would be from point of purchase, and sent directly to one government department. That government department would redistribute the collected funds to Fed, state, and communities as necessary to fund their operations.

Agreed, but the Bitcoin Main Chain should be looked at like a savings account. Use it to store funds. Lightning is a spending account. Move funds from the main chain to lightning as needed for spending funds. Hopefully their will be favorable legislation to allow for no capital gains on spends up to some reasonable threshold.

It’s not a horrible problem. Most of us will use Bitcoin responsibly, as a store of value. In some way, it’s OK that they can track the fact that some entity sent a good deal of value to a not so good entity for a not so good purpose. They can’t stop the payment, but they can track it back to you. Would certainly give a bad person pause to use Bitcoin for any illegal activities. Absolute privacy in any system is a myth.

Got the invite to BlueSky. Seeing as I like what Jack’s behind, I signed in to it. Went thru a bunch of the suggested Follows. Seemed like a bunch of corporate news media outlets. After seeing the feed, I was not impressed with what it was giving me. Then without having posted anything at all, I received my first follower. Satan! What? Anybody here have any experiences to share on BlueSky yet?

Just watched the Movie “Human B”. Very inspiring take on what Bitcoin is really all about. Forget how Wall Street thinks they will make a ton of money with it. Think more about how it saves the planet.

The next attack on Bitcoin;
Congress is making a stink about Terrorism, and the use of Crypto to finance it.
Even tho it’s clear that most funding is generated through the Fiat System.
They took a look at Bitcoin, and are realizing that Bitcoin is not a good way to gather funds for terrorism due to it’s public blockchain being completely transparent, and the ability to track funds that are transferred on the chain.
Just the same they want to make a case against it, which will build public perception that the government needs to step up and regulate it.
Here comes the next attack on Bitcoin.
The Government says sure, you can have your Bitcoin. We will even allow an ETF to be created to Sell Bitcoin to the American public. The Government even has a nice stash of it that they confiscated from Silk Road and other enforcement actions taken against criminals using Bitcoin. They can sell that stash to Black rock without affecting the price of Bitcoin due to Over the Counter trading that does not go through exchanges.
The next action the government will take against Bitcoin, is to make Self Hosted Wallets Illegal. Now this is getting serious. Now Regulated exchanges, and ETF’s will be the only way you can hold Bitcoin. Now all movement of Bitcoin through these exchanges is much easier to trace, and also control where it can be sent to. The same way, and reason they also want to create a CBDC. On top of that, just wait and see what the Exchanges, and ETF managers do with Bitcoin in their possession. They will of coarse sell the public more Bitcoin then they really have. That’s how they can make a ton of money. Of course Congress men will have their hands in the pockets of these regulated exchanges to enrich themselves. What a wonderful windfall for them.
If you are a true Bitcoiner, you will be forced to work outside of the Law. You will not be able to move your self custody Bitcoin in and out of exchanges. You will only be able to trade, and move it among other Bitcoiners willing to operate undercover outside of the law. The time is now to make a stink with your lawmakers to prevent this from happening. Good Luck All!

Thoughts about exchanging Bitcoin the other day! Our government wants to charge you Capital Gains on Bitcoin transactions. You bought it originally with Fiat money’s you earned, and were already taxed on. You own it now. Then you want to use it to buy something or exchange it for something else. Say that you want to exchange it for another Crypto (God forbid). The Government likes to think of it as, you sold the Bitcoin for Fiat, and then purchased the other commodity with the Fiat. If you did that, then OK. I would say that you are using their monetary system that they maintain, and they have a right to charge you a rent of using it. But you did not do that. You operated completely outside of their monetary system to make the trade thru an exchange and in my mind then they have no right to charge you rent to use their system. You could have traded the Bitcoin for Services or Products with someone that wants Bitcoin in exchange. Then again you did not use their monetary system for these exchanges. What if you had 4 chairs, and you wanted a bed. What if you found somebody that wanted 4 chairs that had a bed that you wanted. If you were to trade that person your 4 chairs for that persons bed, would your government want to charge you a tax on that transaction. If you exchanged for Fiat money and then the bed maybe OK, but in the example above you operated completely outside of the their monetary system, and therefore the government should not be charging you rent to use their system in the form of taxes.

I recently found myself thinking of how to fix the insider trading dilemma. It’s seemingly an impossible task to tell a politician or Wall Street insider they cannot profit on trades based on insider information. They may not be able to do it themselves, but of course then they can tell family members or friends of this inside information, and let them make the trades to make them rich, and share it with the person giving them the information. What then? Prevent family and friends from using any inside information to make trades. How much time and effort would be spent to chase that down? It’s a vicious and impossible circle in my mind. Maybe these are a solution;
1) Every trade is immediately, and completely traceable on a public blockchain for everybody to have access to. No place to hide, and no 45 day waiting period to disclosure.
2) Or Let insider trading just happen. The weight of dishonestly in the markets will collapse the entire system as the public discovers that it is so fixed, it makes no sense to be in it.
