As a very young Gen X-er, (Xennial? 🙄) I have a soft spot for "Hair Ballads" or whatever you wanna call the sappy output of otherwise hard-rockin’ bands of the late 80s and early 90s.
I’ve been working on a playlist, but for reasons I can’t quite pin down, there’s some bands/songs that just don’t quite fit in my mental model of hair balladeers.
- Journey - Faithfully
- Def Leppard - Love Bites
- Guns n’ Roses - November Rain
- Aerosmith - Crazy
Did all those bands have long hair and generally "hard rock" catalogs of music? Yes.
So why do I feel weird putting "Love Bites" or "November Rain" on a playlist alongside "Fly to the Angels" and "When I See You Smile" ?

@npub12ze…hunm There's efforts in the industry to move to a security model where you do 1 auth every ~24h or so, and then a combination of that + "proof" that you're on a trusted device would allow you access to all the things... since ultimately that's all the MFA and other login dances are really about. "Prove you are who you say you are and that you're connecting from a trusted device".
I wouldn't expect to see that sorta thing to be broadly available anytime soon though. The healthcare industry moves slowwwwww AF.

The IETF is kinda the "high council" of the internet. It's where "Request For Comments" documents (RFCs) are submitted and eventually ratified into the "standards" used across the internet.
So like, for instance RFC2822 was the proposal which standardized what an email address looks like.

Oh, and the word "is" is not always present tense, cuz there's modifier words to turn it past tense. 🙄
E.g. That rule is past hard to learn.

Information Society was so good! I love them.
The concert tonight felt very intimate and like a gathering of old friends… despite the fact that I didn’t know anyone else there! 😂
I guess it being InSoc's hometown played a big part of that. It was cool seeing Kurt just kinda out in the crowd chatting with his friends/family before the show.

The band was such a weird combo... It was basically a beat poet, an upright bass player, an experimental noise artist, and a drummer.

The movie "Real Genius" was kinda a cornerstone movie in my youth. It ends with Everybody Wants To Rule The World playing and a very memorable scene involving popcorn, a house, and a laser from space.

Is there a Fediverse equivalent to bandcamp? That would be interesting... though it's ultimately a business endeavor, so maybe doesn't quite fit with the ethos.
