The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) was established in 1994 by Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee, to develop interoperable standards to lead the Web to its full potential.

We are an international multi-stakeholder community where member organizations, a full-time staff, and the public work together to build a Web based on the principles of accessibility, internationalization, privacy and security.

The Private Advertising Technology Working Group has published a First Public Working Draft of Privacy-Preserving Attribution: Level 1. This specifies a browser API for the measurement of advertising performance. The goal is to produce aggregate statistics about how advertising leads to conversions, without creating a risk to the privacy of individual web users.

We will continue to communicate in a way that hopefully inspires people, talk about our vision and the key principles W3C work follows for the good of the Web. Our Members will continue to be large and small, popular of less so, and our work to be done in the open with input from the public. We will continue to ignore and block trolls, because it’s a big loss if our messages are not getting through or if the rest of the community does not feel free to engage.
