Same thing here. Though I don't think it'll be the busiest this year yet for me. I wonder if first world -> first world migration is as taxing as third (second?) world -> first world.

Some months ago (perhaps more like half a year), I got an account at @npub1gy6…qj3q mostly because I thought it'd be useful to have a shell account on a "third-party" machine. My schedule has been getting pretty complicated lately, mostly due to all the classes and casual meetings I am now participating in. I imagine it's only going to get more complicated in the near future.
I think it could be helped with some calendar software. Some initial research suggests that CalDAV is the thing to look for (though I am very open to anything else too). Could anyone, perhaps more knowledgeable, educate me on the issue? 80% of time I spent in front of the monitor is with a fullscreen xterm running tmux, so I'd really like something that would fit into that.

Some time earlier I made the following rather similar observations in the LESSONS LEARNED section of my about.txt file at https://manpager.org/usr/aa/about.txt
- If you are in a bad environment, change it.
- There's nothing like having friends. But assholes are not worth your time. Which ones you get largely depends on your environment. Seek better environment.
The story behind these is that I have for a long time considered the world to be a very dark place, full of awful people. Then I moved to Georgia, and in a few months began attending expat meetings. The people I've met are the most alive, curious and friendly out of all my acquaintances.
It was like that with social media. For a long time I couldn't quite understand the name -- most people on these websites seemed very *anti*-social to me. So far I did see a *little* bit of that on the #fediverse, however I've seen much *more* of people being friendly, and engaging in discussion.
I think in both cases a major difference is that I am coming from something I (and most other participants really) have been forced into, and getting into something else voluntarily. Another one is that perhaps things like the latter tend to attract better people than the previous.

So, apparently it's popular to make an #introduction post here, and pin it to the top.
My name is Alexander, though since recently friends call me Lexu, which I thought was a cool nickname, so I go under it now. I currently live in the beautiful city of Kutaisi in Imereti, though that will change, many times probably. I am a Unix programmer. Most of what I write is either a quick script in shell/perl, or a "serious" program in C. Other than that I read lots of nonfiction and draw sketches.

Just finished reading this book yesterday (Code by Charles Petzold).
It starts pretty interesting with the discussion of the early binary codes, such as Morse and Braille, and a refresher on how electricity works. Then the book does something they failed really hard at at my school: showing how electromagnets are actually useful (you can make telegraph relays with them). Then Petzold shows how to make logic gates with relays, and an 8-bit computer with gates. Unfortunately, towards the end it gets much more boring: discussions of machine code, assembly, operating systems, and so on -- but among these very little you wouldn't know already.
