Was about to reply and say this. And not to digress (but I can’t help it as I love nerding out about this stuff), it’s one of the reasons why imho the parliamentary system is superior to the (garbage) US system - it actively encourages multiple parties, including established ones collapsing and new ones forming when citizens don’t feel like they’re being represented by the status quo. It may seem chaotic to those used to the (detrimentally) static US system, but this inherent “chaos” works to the benefit of the public, which I assume we all agree should be a priority for a system of governance.
Of course I’m under no delusions that the US would ever adopt a parliamentary system, sadly. NIH syndrome is too strong in this country.

We all ran around like chooks with our heads cut off trying to grab everything before it washed back out to sea, including the boat itself, life jackets, fishing gear, spare petrol canisters - you name it. Just as we got it all collected in one place in the beach and were staring to discuss what to do next, a couple of somewhat “rough and tumble looking” local youths come bounding down the cliff yelling “that’s our uncle’s boat and we have to get it out of here right now!!” (note: due to the local accents it took some time for us to understand wtf they were saying). Turns out the tide had turned, and the beach would be gone in another half hour or so (which I didn’t believe tbh). (2/3)

So we and these local youths managed to to drag this heavyass boat up the cliff to the grass on top, and sure enough, by the time we were doing the last couple of rounds to bring up all the random other paraphernalia, the waves were already lapping at the base of the cliff, and within 10 minutes this not-insubstantial beach had completely disappeared!
tl;dr - they have crazy tides in that part of the world (3/3)

Oh boy this reminded me of a story. Back in the 80s we were on a family trip to Blighty, and one leg included heading down to Cornwall. Being summer, we found a nice secluded beach and went down for a swim. Soon we noticed the tide dropping super fast, until finally a wave caught a small dinghy anchored just off shore, ripped the anchor, and washed it (and everything it contained) to shore. (1/3)

The last prior authorisation I got for an imaging test was exactly 4 days long, about a month out. When I called the imaging place to try to schedule it, the first available they had was 3 months out. I didn't even have anyone I could complain to (except my poor doctor, who has zero influence over either organisation). #MissionFailedSuccessfully
