@nprofile…wexa Im not a fan of the Aqara sensors. They are picky with certain routing devices and can drop off randomly. The best experience I’ve had with them is when i pair them with the aqara hub and pss them through to HA. I use the zooz sensors. They are zwave and cost a bit more but ive had a much better experience with them.

I picked up a bunch of random drinks from an Asian supermarket to try. One of which was called Hata from Japan. I actually had to look up a video online on how to open it. This is what I learned today!

@nprofile…xrfj love that I just plug it in and my devices easily connect to it. Then the vpn back to home keeps it all secure. The compact size to makes it easy to travel with.

@nprofile…xrfj No. it’s quite a bit. But from a high level it have Unifi for my network and cameras. A dell r730 as my main server (24 core) that runs everything from home assistant to Emby. It also has 3 graphic cards for llm and transcoding work. I have a backup precision server and a few UPSs for power backup. The storage is a NetStor array which I love because it exposes JBOD to my servers. All the PDUs are mounted on the back.

@nprofile…6kvg NICE! I have fiber into the house but only 10G from my server to the switch. I haven’t had a need to go through the house. But I have a friend that works with fiber as his job so one day I’m going to bug him for some work. I would like to work on redundancy too but will take some planning. That’s a future project.

@nprofile…xrfj It’s been a long work in progress because it’s not cheap. I would buy used equipment on marketplace and work with it. A lot of learning too. This is probably my 3rd iteration. I kept outgrowing the previous setups.

Did a few upgrades to the server rack this weekend. Added a 16 bay disk array that is hooked up to bot my servers. Installed the new console. Added another UPS that I won’t be hooking up until my panel upgrade this week. I’ve also swapped in some Noctua fans so this setup is pretty quiet yet cool.

@nprofile…4mz9 I feel your pain. I have zigbee, zwave and matter. They all have their issues and it doesn’t help when the manufacturers do weird implementations with the protocols.

@nprofile…l7gn I think Z2M takes it even further where if a device doesn’t check in then it marks it unavailable. I make my offline device dashboard based on this. So take a look and hopefully you have a similar setting.

@nprofile…l7gn Does zha have a last seen entity do the devices? A zigbee device will wake up on a schedule and check in. I have it with zigbee2mqtt that lets me keep an eye on devices.

Second project for today. Playing with the Homey Pro. I don’t plan to move away from my dear Home Assistant but always good to see how others do things. This will be interesting. I have enough devices in my junk drawer to setup a 2nd house.

My Dell R730 server has 2 Nvidia Tesla cards (P4 and T4). They don’t have fans so I have a dedicated fan to keep them cool. The 40mm fan however is way too loud.
Today I’m replacing it with a 60mm Noctua fan that is way quieter.
Had to remix and 3d print a new fan duct for it.

Finally got around to setting up this travel router. It’s the GL.iNet GL-MT3000. It has wifi 6 and a bunch of features.
When I travel I plug this little thing in and it creates a VPN connection back to my home. All my devices connect to it and just work.
Really like this little thing.

Finally upgraded to #Unraid 7.0.1. I was nervous but it went much better than I expected. Looks like they worked out a bunch of kinks with the point release. Now I'm up to date.

Looks like they have finally released a fix for the MMU3 overcurrent issue that a number of people have been experiencing on their #Prusa MK4 printers. If you are one of those people here is a link to the beta firmware.

Picked up this little beauty for the rack. It’s nice to have a slide out console that only takes up 1U of space.
