None of the cross-border train schedules worked (I think most only go m-f) so I took the high speed to Lviv (which was very nice!) then was going to get a drive to Lublin to take their train to Warsaw — but the farmer protest held us up at the border for 6 hours, so missed the last train and had to get driven. Bit of a mess.

The queue at the Ukrainian border is truly wild. Nearly 20km of trucks lined up down a narrow highway en route into Ukraine. Polish farmers, protesting Ukrainian imports, are only allowing one truck through an hour — meaning some of these trucks could be sitting there for a week or more.

The Russian Volunteer Corps — a group of claimed Russian fighters, operating alongside the Ukrainian military — continues to needle the Russian government. They participated in a series of incursions into Belgorod and Kursk (the most significant attacks from Ukraine on Russia to date, I believe) and claim they've taken Russian soldiers prisoner and seized some serious Russian equipment. A Russia Ilyushin Il-76 transport plane went down over Russia today. Footage appears to show the plane going down, erupting in a giant fireball in a populated town. Russian media says the plane was carrying Ukrainian POWs, and was shot down by Ukrainian forces. Ukrainian military sources, per Pravda, say the plane was carrying missiles.

Interestingly, the Federal Court found there was no violation of Canadians' right to public assembly or freedom of association, specifically rejecting the assertion that the Act criminalized protest. The only constitutional infringements were relating to the curtailment of the peaceful protesters' freedom of expression, how the regulations enabled unreasonable search and seizure of the occupiers' bank accounts.

I think we'll learn soon if Prigozhin was, in fact, aboard that plane. But one interesting thing:
The initial reports from Russian media suggested that the flight that *was* shot down was registered to a company called MNT-AERO LLC. (МНТ-Аэро) and the plane make was a ERJ-135BJ.
The actual make of the downed plane was EMB-135 and the plane (best I can tell) was never registered to MNT-AERO.
The plane that landed, however, *was *an 135BJ.
Did Moscow mis-identify the flight they shot down?

Based on the photos of the wreckage, it seems clear that the downed flight is a Embrarer EMB-135 Legacy, call sign RA-02795. That is, based on past reporting, one of Prigozhin's preferred personal jets.
The plane that landed near Moscow is a similar make (Embraer ERJ-135BJ Legacy) with a call sign RA-02748.

In case you're wondering what this means for Wagner: Without Prigozhin or Utkin, I don't think there's much of a future for Wagner staying independent. The outcome of the aborted coup in June was supposed to be a slow absorption of Wagner into the regular forces. That can probably now speed up significantly and entirely.
