@npub105v…hk8p agree with all of that. Another thing that you mentioned, too many people are willing to just take medication and not actually talk about their situation. I feel that in some cases, both are important, but the things should actually be evaluated on a deeper level. one treatment doesn’t work for everyone is a lot of the doctors seem to think.

@npub105v…hk8p A guy from work likes the GE ones...I'll see if they work with that, as well. they work with HomeAssistant, I know that for sure. Not sure about Platypush by default, but they might. I think my network is going to (for now) be a combination of both Platypush and HA due to different things that each supports.

@npub105v…hk8p Apple does this too. It's utterly ridiculous. I'm seriously considering thinking hard about going Android...again next time around. You'll hate this, but I'm thinking of getting a Pixel simply for accessibility's sake and the fact it's vanilla Android. Part of the issue with the custom phones is that the custom UIs some of these companies use (emui, the one that Galaxies use), and so on, break things.

@npub105v…hk8p One of my friend's main reasons for owning a business in the first place is so that he can own a full rack of servers for himself and his friends to play with. So profit is actually rather secondary to him. good point. Regardless of anything, I would never fund anything via venture capital. I baught the book about the metaverse by Matthew Ball, and honestly I'm regretting buying that book, because that dude's a venture capitalist. Not that I have a problem with people making enough money to feel comfortable. I live in a relatively small condo. I have a feeling that even if I came into a million or more dollars, I'd not trade this little home for anything.

@npub105v…hk8p How then do we find just the bad channels? Because there's lots of groups that use codes and what not; doesn't make them part of a gang. I even did that back at camp...just to make sure that the staff didn't know what we were talking about. I didn't want either myself or any of my friends to end up in a child psych ward, and one of the councilors was also a therapist, and she'd have done that if she heard. So my friends and I used numeric codes to mean different things. No one ever figured it out. Either way, you've got a point. I just finished up Tracers In The Dark by Andy Greenberg, and the entire book is stories on how the cops only caught the criminals using Tor, and no one else; mostly because said criminals made some identifying mistakes.

I seriously wish that they would use a different one, particularly knowing what you just said. It would benefit both the bridge operator, and the operator of the server on the other end.

One of my YouTube folks, he does lots of computer repair stuff, regardless of how many subscribers have YT premium, there is this stupid invalid traffic bug affecting both his channels where they're demonetizing his channel for no reason at all, and when he goes to support, they do nothing. Music is another one; I use Spotify, though I would love to find something that supports artists but has the same amount of diverse songs as Spotify does.

@npub105v…hk8p What worries me is that while I agree with you, after all, I watch some of those channels you mentioned, it seems that people are scrambling for a new method, and that new method of a business model is, seemingly, to most modern technologists, cryptocurrencies. I don't see how that will ever work in light of the inherent flaws in the models of all of those. I've been in those markets before; never again.

One; people need to realize that video creation can't be a full-time job anymore, at least in today's current society of capitalist bullshit, and two: people need to stop being afraid of asking for donations and taking them personally. Everyone seems to think that they need to start a company to make money. I don't think it's true, or if it is, then they're caving to the idiots who love law suits. If you have something counter to this, please. I would love to hear it.

@npub105v…hk8p Even mine's a little odd; the one from the group I'm in, wasn't obvious, either, and she only sent it to the group, but the one issue is that she was mostly tech averse, but only using it because the majority of us were communicating over a long distance. When people talk about indexing, I'm pretty certain they aren't talking about anything except for Google, right? Because if you Google me, you won't find me, even though I have at least a single post per day on my blog. Most come from Swarm, when I check into a location, so...that could be why.

If the site is password protected, then the public can't view it, provided it's using more than basic authentication, am I right? Why the emphasis on private sites and private viewing in some circles? The solution to that, of course, is a VPN with only a limited number of people purposely given access. This is also rampant on the Fediverse where some people are saying that they don't want their posts searchable? Why even be on the internet at all, then?

@npub105v…hk8p I forgot about that thing! I need to probably look into it at some point. So, Keycloak does run behind a proxy, but you just have it running over a VPN somewhere else. That is interesting. I'll have to get my friend who was also trying to set things up to send me the configuration he was using that wasn't working. I have a feeling that one little setting got missed. That's always how it works; in a different scenario, we had multiple LDAP domains at one point, and even though they all have transitive trusts in the same forest, my friend was not able to go from mine to his, and so we flattened it. Neither of us wanted to find that one setting that died. LOL

@npub105v…hk8p Once I do get it going,though, I have an idea for a project with the Keycloak API, basically pulling people who sign into Keycloak into my internal Active Directory located inside of my network. Basically I'll have a group in AD for Keycloak members. Not sure how that would sync passwords, though; haven't gotten that far. You're lucky since you don't have AD/Samba running behind Keycloak.

Because then I'd have to figure out how to get a site to site tunnel from it to my home network where the rest of my infrastructure is. This would probably be a lot simpler if I still had my PowerEdge R620 in the datacenter.

Nerds should be able to do whatever we want, because if a mail server is running,chances are, the person running it knows what they're doing.

I might consider switching to something other than Office 365 if I end up with a unit in a datacenter again. That won't be for a bit,though.

I think you told me that the Netherlands ISPs don't give much of a dang as long as customers aren't spreading malware,right? What about Italy?

I loved using that thing to view stuff, considering, while the Twitter website is not completely unusable, it sure is a complete pain in the ass to use, thanks for all the ads that they have sprinkled throughout. I wonder that; even other people in my age group do it in front of me, too, and I sometimes have to yell to get their attention. But that's sad, that people would find their phones more entertaining than your playing! @npub105v…hk8p I'm going to revamp how I receive information, too, and I will start using RSS more with notifications coming from a portable RSS reader like IndiePass, rather than having a shit-ton of applications. TikTok has become a breeding ground for creeps,by the way. I only use it because a friend of mine posts interesting videos up there. The rest? "Hi, beautiful, Nice to meet you." I told somebody to F off earlier. And I didn't feel any shame in doing so.

I find that issue around me, too,though the fact that I'm visually impaired, I sort of have to have a smartphone in order to perform some activities; reading printed documents (apps which scan the document with my phone's camera), paying my bills, and so on. Without my phone or my computer,I would not be able to do those things,and would be forced to always have someone sighted around to read or handwrite for me. I consider that last resort. But then again, I have taught myself to ignore notifications on my phone that I don't need to care about at the given moment. I seem to be one of the only normal ones of my generation,though.

After all, what makes a third-party application for accessibility exclusively, anyway? I use Apollo on my phone, for instance. I like it, but I don’t need it in order to be able to use the service itself. so I wish them fun and trying to interpret that.

I would like to get something myself, but would rather the device just be a "dumb" device controlled by a VM on my network acting as a file server.
