@npub12ze…hunm America in the 17th century is probably the most post-apocalyptic environment that human history has ever seen.
Cities and entire nations just wiped off the map, complete collapse of the economy, constant fear of deadly disease, and then you get foreign invaders with futuristic weapons who bring all kind of strange alien animals with them.
Had there been more historical records from native populations at the time, the historical fiction we could have would be just ghastly.

@npub12ze…hunm The collapse of American civilization wasn't really caused by European invasion, but primarily by the worst epidemic the world has ever seen. In many areas, the death rate from smallpox and other diseases is believed to be 95 to 99%. When European settlement started, there was already barely anyone alive to oppose it.
Now Africa or Southeast Asia, those would be more plausible scenarios. Those only happened because of European industrial power. Which only happened 200 years later.

Wasteland 2 on PS4 from 2015 has an options setting for Text Size.
A basic feature that every game needs, especially those that are released for PC and console.
It's not hard. It's not optional.
Every UI in a console game that is shipped without the ability to make the screen text readable from 3 meters is not fit for purpose, and the responsible designers should be ashamed at having failed at their job.

One #math thing that has always bothered me is the question what is supposed to be profound or insightful about Hilbert's Hotel?
I've seen countless descriptions of that thought experiment, but none really gets into any detail on what it is supposed to show. What did Hilbert try to accomplish with the hypothetical example of moving infinitely many people around in infinitely many hotel rooms?
What's the whole point?

There is now a visual and thematic sub-genre of fantasy that I don't know if it has a proper name yet.
It's the older From Soft fantasy games, Northern Journey, Vermis, Symbaorum, and I guess also Darkwood, if it were a high fantasy world. Maybe Darkest Dungeon?
Its colors are black and dark green, and it has a big thing for rot, undead, and madness.

Got a question about #GIMP:
I made this image to define 230 colors that I want to use as a color palette when creating textures for game assets.
My question now is, how do I convert this image to a palette in GIMP?
There is an "Import Palette" feature, that lets me select either "Gradient" or "Image" as the source, but the palettes this produces are a total mess.

What's a good program to transfer directories between two #linux computers through a Wifi network?
KDE Connect works well for sending single files, but it can't do directories. Any other programs that can do that?

#linuxhelp question:
I have two computers running #Fedora40 KDE on the same wifi network, and I'm fed up with searching for a USB drive any time I want to move a file from one computer to another.
Surely there's a tool to do that directly over the wifi network? I remember something like that from back in WindowsXP.
Is there a default tool preinstalled with Fedora? Is there a common one I should install on both computers to get this working? (Internet search has not been helpful.)

I ordered a new internet connection for my new apartment. Technician shows up 8 days later, says old hardware in the basement needs replacing first and will check with the landlord. 6 days later I call them again for an update, and they haven't scheduled anything yet. And technician is now on vacation, so maybe some point next week.
Used my 14 day annulment right and went to a different supplier, who claims I can have wireless internet running tomorrow.
Should have done that 2 weeks ago.
