It's my experience that people who love wildlife spend most of their lives in a state of quiet anguish watching what they love be systematically destroyed, sometimes up close.
So probably they also don't have a lot of patience for cutesy hate-comments about bugs or snakes or whatever.

Female golden dung fly. These conspicuous flies are common in the US, but I haven't seen them in my yard before. Has me wondering if it's the compost getting their attention. This one was hunting fruit flies and had a couple of near-catches while I was watching.

@npub1eav…g6f3 Nice! We get quite a lot here in the city, one year I saw half a dozen congregating on someone's back fence. Nice to see people mostly letting them alone.

@npub1eav…g6f3 Pretty exciting! We were just on the outskirts of Brood X last year, so this kind of makes up for it. I'm interested to see how local fauna reacts - will there be a bumper crop of cicada killers? We'll find out!

Leafhopper, genus Agallia. A little plain for a hopper, but the wing pattern is nice.
