But it makes no difference if we register them or not. If they are U21 they are eligible either way and it makes no difference to the squad, right? I can only see them being named if Ange wants them to be properly integrated as a first team squad member.

I thought U21s make no difference in terms of saving us as HG. 🤷 If they are registered as U21s they can play in the main squad anyway, no matter if we already have a 25 man squad with 8HGs or only a 24 with 7 (etc).

More realistic in terms of the numbers in and out than my previous go I think, although not sure we’ll end up with that many homegrown. But at least it illustrates that there are HG options in different areas.

That’s the only bit where I still disagree because I don’t think it could have gone the other way on the day. The stats were made more even after it was 3-0. Had it gone to 3-1 then Spain may have got on top again. We’ll never actually know because Croatia failed to pull one back. I don’t believe one can fairly say it could have gone the other way based on even stats when most of those stats for the losing team came after they were 3-0 down and outplayed for the most part up to that point.

I disagree they were unlucky Spain scored three. You could say they were unlucky they came up against a good side who were too good. But Spain were good, not lucky.
I agree that Croatia were unlucky not to score themselves.
See my other replies on my point re xG and missing the ‘than bad’ part of the OP.
I was only talking about xG but I guess attack momentum might be deemed the same thing. A team with better attack momentum but my granny up front unable to finish any chances wouldn’t make them unlucky. Similarly a team with little attack momentum but Messi up top to score a few worldies aren’t lucky. Over-reliance on these stats looks at matches as robotic events assuming all 22 players are equal, which is never the case in reality. They’re a good tool for analysis and break down but only if they’re paired with the reality of events, not when used as the sole evidence of something.

I agree with that. I didn’t realise you said more unlucky than bad. There was a typo in your original message so it didn’t say ‘than bad’. I thought you meant unlucky to lose based on xG.

Agreed. They were unlucky they came up against a team that were better than they could manage to be themselves on the day.
But they weren’t unlucky because xG had them 0.34 higher, especially when a penalty they missed added 0.79 to their xG score.
Focussing only on the stats takes out the nuance. To have watched that match from kick off to final whistle and come to the conclusion that Croatia were unlucky to have not got a result would be odd in my opinion.
Another view in the same vein would be to suggest that Messi is the luckiest player on the planet because the amount of goals he scored are way above his xG. The real reason is because he’s (just a little bit) better than average, which is of course what xG is based on. (On average a penalty will be scored 0.79 times out of 1)

Yeh, I understand his point. My point is that I don’t think you can say they were unlucky just because a stat might suggest they were. They weren’t. They were second best. At no point did Spain need to change gear once they were 3-0 up. The game is completely different when you’re 3-0 up/down. What was the xG at half time? And even on 70 minutes? Spain dominated and were the deserved winners. Chance after chance at 3-0 down means nothing, especially when none of them alter the scoreline and the cushion for Spain remains the same. I’m not anti stats but looking at xG in hindsight and thinking it means Croatia were unlucky is false in this case.

I’m not sure many people who watched the match in full would say Croatia were unlucky. Creating most of their chances at 3-0 down might happen to have improved Croatia’s xG, a stat that can flatter to deceive, but that doesn’t make them unlucky.

I see, I thought that might be the case. Apple might be wicked but they’re not stupid.
Yes, an in-app camera (easily accessibly by the tap of an icon as the native camera is) would definitely be of interest to me. I would imagine it would be to a large amount of your userbase who would be motivated to sign up to ente specifically to stop Apple and Google from using their data for machine learning, tracking etc.

Ace, thank you. Do you know whether BackBaze and Wasabi have declared an intention to do so? If not is this something you could request as a client?
I’ve just had a play about with the free trial and in terms of functionality it’s all very smooth.
However, am I correct in saying there’s no way to bypass the native photos app but only copy over from there?
I’m using an iPad and so if I take a photo on it that photo is stored by the native Apple photos app. Even if only for a few seconds before it transfers to ente and I manually delete it from the native photos app. -Which means any photos taken are never private because Apple always gets a sniff first and as we know, they keep them and use them for their own nefarious purposes even when we delete them.
I’m hoping there’s a solution to bypass the native photos app but I can’t find any option in settings.
