This is exactly why Dems should lean in & send her out on the trail. She's a strong communicator, & GOP is massively overselling the power of racism to scare people when the options are "black woman" and "lunatic criminal wannabe-dictator." I keep thinking about that redneck with the confederate flag in the window who answered the door & told the canvasser "I'm gonna save you some time, I'm votin for the n* because McCain's just too old & senile."

Bullseye. Wilhoit's Law is their TormentNexus-touchstone: any attempt by a non-Conservative president to leverage any of their rulings will be struck down for some new arbitrary reason. The resulting chaos of precedent creates a situation where they constantly need to make oracular interpretations.
Scenario I think we'll hear more about: Trump packing the court with conservatives, because Roberts demands more bodies to handle bigger case loads resulting from the chaos.

one thing that's always irked me is that the correlation between above-"optimal" body weight & improved longevity has been clear SINCE THE 1970s, when studies were done using insurance industry data. There's no real reason why it should be regarded as controversial.

Can't tell you how many times I've pointed out continual decreases in crime & had people double, triple, nthple down on different reasons why it's not true - progressing from 'show me the stats' to 'those stats are bogus' to 'well my buddy's friend is a sherrif's deputy who said the FBI fakes its stats.' At the end of it all 'skyrocketing crime' is a key tenet in the religion of anti-modernism & folks will always find a way to pretend it's true.

Very few people seem to be dealing with the facts that:
- #genAI services are all being priced as loss-leaders at this point.
- gen AI is only going to get more expensive, there's literally no forseeable prospect for cost reduction in how AI is produced.
- Eventually these vendors are gonna be expected to count profits, not revenues, & that's going to mean either fewer services, less service, higher prices, or all of the above.

Random observation: Photos I'm seeing today of American riot cops show them carrying straight-handle batons instead of the side-handle batons that have been more common.
Side-handle batons were adopted because they afforded ways of subduing suspects with reduced force. Also, side handles don't provide as much striking leverage, so are less likely to seriously injure people by striking.
Cops shifting back to straight batons could signal acknowledgement that their main goal is to hurt people.
