I have no clue.
In the end I am mainly dissatisfied that git-hooks.nix and treefmt.nix seem to be duplicating work.

Why are there 13 competing standards for pre commit hooks?
There is https://pre-commit.com/ which is great and has dozens of hooks, so great that there is https://github.com/cachix/git-hooks.nix which nixifies it and has to declare all hooks again. Okay, now its nixified, that’s better I guess. Oh, what’s that hook? https://treefmt.com/ how useful you can collect different formatters together. Oh, wait, there is https://github.com/numtide/treefmt-nix which nixifies that again, declare dozens of formatters in #nix again …

Only a mind that appreciates abstractions like monads, could come up with concept of advancing a language by retroactively calling parts of the standard an "extension" and then removing those "extensions".
If it think too long about it, it makes complete sense. Like adding -3 to 2. But it's also quite bonkers...

8 years ago, I started learning #Haskell to program myself a todo list app.
How did that go for my todo list?
Well, it is filled with:
* Maintaining the UI library I use for it (#reflex)
* Maintaining the OS I use to package and deploy it (#nixos)
* Being part of the steering committee of the compiler to build it (#ghc)
* Ah, and I have job were I use all that stuff.
However, the app is currently not in a usable state, so I basically coordinate all that on chaotic stack of papers on my desk.

I know it’s a tough choice, but I think this is the worst #haskell #ghc error message I know:
For
"Proxy @Contact"
I get:
"Cannot apply expression of type 't1' to a visible type argument 'Contact'."
Where the reason is, that I don’t have the Proxy constructor imported …
I thought HLS might be shadowing the "Constructor out of scope" error. But no, that’s the only error I get from GHC…

After writing #Haskell for months I am now fighting with #javascript and it feels so alien that a variable being null and a variable being undefined are valid program states but using them crashes.

Something extremly awesome happened. After switching to #nixos-24.05 my system just feels … more snappy?
I don’t know exactly why. I think it might be the update to #river 0.3.0.

Honestly the best thing about doing a #nixos upgrade every half year is seeing the leaps which #lazygit makes.
That tool is so amazing and it get’s better and better. Really! Try it out! It’s worth it.
I would say I am a quite advanced git user on the command line and there is nothing that lazygit can do that you cannot do with the command line. But so many things e.g. like interactive rebases are much more comfortable in this UI, giving you valuable information while you are at it.
