Popped out for a mangetout snack & found someone else doing the same.
This wee mouse was having a good look around before snaffling a pod (might have been from the adjacent sweet peas) and taking it away to it’s nest (I assume).
I was trying not to startle it so photo was best I could do.

I saw a spider carrying it’s spiderlings (babies) on it’s abdomen today.
It even jumped off, carrying them away from danger

I can’t help but feel mainstream media is going to get us all killed.
The absolute ignorance on climate, Covid and the dangers of right wing politicians.
Their willingness to punch down on refugees & marginalised communities.

It’s good to get some quantity of harvest from the garden to refill the freezer.
After I took this photo I went out for more black currants & some red currants.
I’m confused because the black currants are more ready than the red- but I think the blackbirds have had the ripe red currants already.

I have a pot which is now full of moss ready to release spores.

Do we talk enough about how the response to the climate crisis is a million different things all at once? Any “one thing” that will solve the climate is wishful thinking.
We all will have to face changes in the future (we already made changes getting from the past to the present).
Less driving, less meat, less flying, less consumption.
More free time, more clean air, more nature, more community.
The sooner we imagine a future we want to strive towards & start trying to get there the better.

Managed a bit of environmental education yesterday talking to someone wanting to “tidy up” a patch of nettles and put down some grass seed.
They had no idea that the nettles were an important food source for caterpillars.
Even got into the whole food chain with the caterpillars being needed for the birds.
Was a positive and useful conversation, it’s easy to forget that what seems obvious to me is down to what I’ve learned over the years & not everyone has the same knowledge base.

Not too much growing outside (except for mosses) so the indoor plants are getting some attention. Not for eating, but still pretty
