@nprofile…rg89 one counter-perspective holds that there is some value to being a country that produces stuff that people want, especially stuff that's culturally significant within the country (e.g.-farming, often) and stuff that's hard to jump into (e.g.-high-end semiconductor manufacturing, aerospace engineering design/manufacturing knowledge). I don't think that perspective alone would drive you to desire a trade surplus but it does argue against outsourcing all production.

Wild, these TESCREAL characters make a really good argument for having broad access to N95 masks to limit the mortality from any pandemic proactively.
Like sure maybe this argument applies to #ArtificialIntelligence but it definitely applies to immediate strategies that prevent mortality and improve the quality of life like #Masking or #HealthcareForAll
