The labels exist to put a name to concepts. To help people find a community where they belong, to help feel less alone when you're figuring everything out. Many of us felt alone, lost and weird before they had it figured out (I certainly did, even more than just that). It's also there to keep up a community for organizing, meeting, sharing experiences and feelings. And the labels, the community, the togetherness is really important.
What labels absolutely AREN'T there for is gatekeeping, putting people into boxes, putting up requirements and expectations. I hate when people keep others from being who they are because they think we should be in a different box are not "queer enough" (whatever that means) or don't look enough like <arbitrary standard> to fit. Or because there are just slightly different experiences and someone can't understand them.
Labels are for you to find yourself, not for others to put you in a box or limit you. Fuck gatekeepers!!!
